The current 325i- 3.0 is probably under rated.
Thus, it tests much better than it's HP/torque numbers indicate.
Well, that and the E90 325i is geared a bit lower than the E90 330i sedan.

So, this "328" coupe with more power than a 325 sedan and yet both share the same engine is probably just a slight retune it any at all. It's a lot like Nissan's 3.5 engine used in a multitude of models while using various tuning.
It's a smart move on BMW's part to lower production costs by keeping engine choices very limited, at least here in the US where they do sell quite a few cars and the customer base wants "larger" engines.

I am disappointed at the apparent absence of the M-pack option for the US. I guess that could come later? Maybe with the 335si?

Tbh I don't think there is a M-pack available yet for the E92. Not for Europe, not for the US. Only the normal sport-pack. As soon the M-pack is available, I'll be putting an order for a 330d one.

Anyone knows how long it usually takes before the M-pack becomes available for a new model?

Was about 6 months for the E90 in Europe

I do not mind if the scheduling of different new models and options is based on manufacturing issues. But I find it disingenuous when BMW AG&NA delays releasing models & options as marketing strategies. I really think that backfires in the long run. Honesty is the best policy. So if there is a plan to release the M-pack, let the potential buyer know. Ditto for messing around trying to set up the E92 as distinct from the E90. The USA buyer is becoming more mature than BMW NA seems to give them credit for. We are ready for the euro (model line-up, options) system! The US dealers are dinosaurs.

Since my SUV lease ends in July I was considering the 530i and 330i until the anouncement of the 335i coupe.

Totally different beasts, I know, but the 335i just looks outstanding and its specs...well it should be something to sit behind the wheel of a non-M that puts out 300hp/300lb/ft torque. Couple that with BMWs legendary handling and you will not be able to wipe the grin from my face.

Needless to say I put my name on the dealer's list today!

Congrats. That makes a few members already on the E92 list

BMW now claims that the 328 with 230 hp will do 0-60 in 6.2 seconds.

That is the discrepency I'm talking about.
Well considering that the E90 330i with 255HP is quoted as doing 0-60mph in 6.1 seconds per the BMWUSA.com website... I don't know WHAT to take you for.

Who wants to take bets that as soon as somebody puts the 328 on a chassis dyno, they find that it's basically just a rebadged 330 (E90 330 that is) with some engine number fudging courtesy of the BMWNA marketing department? Wouldn't be the first time that's happened. Remember the "170 hp" 323i (and 2.5L ) that did 155+ to the wheels?
I agree with akhbhaat on this one. I already posted a similar opinion in another thread.

Spoke to my dealer a few months back about the E92 he put me on a list and yesterday I confirmed, I’m number 2. He sent me an email with an estimated delivery btw 1-10 September. So for now I’m thinking black with coral red interior and grey poplar wood trim, I just hope I can eventually see this combo before I have to spec the car in June because I don't want to make a mistake. I am pretty conservative when it comes to interior my 330i has black, just wanting something different, I was hoping for Lemon but I see Its not an option. Any Ideas if coral red will be black center dash, black carpet and red seats? And thanks Jason for the sample of coral red!!

I'm on the list too at my dealer Dev., I'm #3. Have to drive over and give him 1000.00 deposit, but I've already filled out and sent back the purchase order. Are you paying full MSRP?

Still have to decide on colors, my current BMW though is a 2000 and is Steel Gray, so Im not sure I want to get another gray-type color, like their Space Gray, Titanium Silver, or Sparkling Graphite. Still, they all look like sweet colors. I think I'd get Space Gray or Sparkling Graphite though, but not Titanium Silver. I also eliminated both Jet Black and Black Sapphire, I think both are great colors, but I dont think I'm up for trying to keep it free from microscratches and swirls, and thats really hard to do and shows up a lot on black BMW's.

So, my final 4 choices are Monaco Blue, Sparkling Graphite, Space Gray, and Deep Green. On all of these I'm looking at the black leather interior with the aluminum trim. Not a fan of wood in my cars.

I think coral red will go with black interior. And grey poplar will also be my choice. Did You consider to order SA 775(roof interior anthracit)? I doubt You will get the car at this date. Delivery to german dealers occurs at 24. September 2006. Can't imagine, BMW will deliver to other countries earlier. I feel with You 'cause I'm also eagerly waiting.

Do you garage your car during the day? I’ve visited AZ during the summer and I would imagine a dark car with dark interior would be unbearable if left in the sun for more than a few minutes

Since you and Greg are both in AZ I was wondering if you desert people think the 335 will sell well in that market? I am just imagining the extreme heat will create heat soak for the turbo making it less efficient/powerful. I don’t know how much the cars performance will be effected but I imagine it will see some change during the summers.

Info on what deals are being negotiated would be appreciated. Any dealers agreeing to set offers below MSRP/profit over invoice? E92 335 vs. E90 335?

Prices have not been released and so far there is no E90 335 (offically).

I would like to see the coupe become more exclusive than the sedans in price and designation. It’s about time BMW distanced the coupes from the sedans.

I'm still debating myself to jump at the 335 or wait for the 335 vert.

Hey 3aficionado, in the daytime my car is parked in a covered car port at work, and at night of course in my garage. I agree though, Phoenix does get hot, but I had a 98 BMW Z3 that was Jet Black a while ago, and it did fine. My current BMW is Steel Gray with Black Leather interior, its pretty much fine with no problems (and its a convertible), but yeah, I see what you're saying. I'm down to 4 colors, but 2 are shades of gray which is what I've had for a while now, so I was thinking I would swap it up. We'll see though, I could change my mind with regards to color by the time production starts on it.

Also, I agree, Phoenix isnt the ideal situation for a turbo, but I expect any power loss to really be nominal overall. Plus, I cant think of any other competitors I would rather have, to be honest (without spending 60-70k).

You can still negotiate prices, either a certain amount over invoice, or a certain amount under MSRP. I negotiated on my Purchase Order with BMW and it will be below MSRP.

Hi maximinimaus, will this be an option right from the beginning? SA 775(roof interior anthracite)
Must say If it is then ill definitely order it, probably one of the things I would change on my 330i, got one of the first but missed out on the upgraded sports pack! Spoke to the dealer ill be paying full MSRP no such thing as discounts on new models here, but he'll probably throw in Bluetooth and a couple of extras free and now to negotiate anthracite roof interior!!!
Just one other question, I read something somewhere on these forums about high beam assist being an option on the E92, but saw nothing in the press release, any ideas?

Hi Dev330,

SA 775: E90 + E91 had it from the beginning. I won't buy a E92 without, because the standard grey roof doesn't fit to the rest in black/anthracite.

Highbeam assist: I think E90Fleet submitted this information. May be he knows, as usual, more about the goodies. Following are a must for me, without I won't buy: Sportseats(SA 481), Shadow Line(SA 760), 18'' better 19'' rims, adaptive curve light. I'm pretty sure in Germany we will get all this stuff and more, so I don't worry.
It's a long wait till september.

I don't know if this has been posted but Car and Driver expects the base price to be at least $42,000.

http://www.caranddriver.com/carnews/...-and-info.html

The 335i is expected to carry a base price of at least $42,000. For about $5000 less, a naturally aspirated, 230-hp, 200 pound-feet, 3.0-liter inline-six also will be available in the 328i coupe.
