E88 135i Bluetooth, aux, and USB not working

Hey everyone,

Bought myself a 2010 135i convertible a few weeks back and from day 1 the Bluetooth, aux, and usb won’t work. What do I mean by this?

When I try and connect my phone through Bluetooth it will be stuck on “please wait,” and the usb and aux ports don’t seem to work whatsoever, as they don’t seem to be getting any power (ie, when I try and charge my phone with the usb nothing happens, and audio won’t play through the aux.)

Are there any fixes for this?

Have you tried the Tune-2-Air(?). From ESC. What I went to and my iPhone bluetooth works well.

How would I install it if my aux and USB ports aren’t working?

Are you working through the OE adapter that plugs in under the console? Is that what is not working? I could not get Bluetooth until I plugged in the Tune to Air device, either. Never really tried the USB.

None of the ports seem to work.

Hello. In my experience at my car audio shop the most common issue for the USB/AUX failing is just a faulty port. They are pretty cheap at BMW parts so I would try swapping that 1st. It's possible if you used a pinched USB cable it may have shorted the port. The AUX side of that I see fail often so that's the 1st thing I'd try.

The Bluetooth may be the module itself has gotten moisture damage and failed. I see this a lot at our shop both with the Bluetooth and more often the stock amps. We use a repair center in Syracuse NY called United Radio. They do free estimates so you could remove it and send it out. They also have a repair center in Peachtree GA. Before you do that thought, I would try resetting the MOST network. We have to do this a lot in older Mercedes where randomly the stock amp stops working. Usually just pulling the fuse for the module or disconnecting the cabling and fiber to the module and reconnecting will reset it. I hope that helps. Cheers.
