128i rear headliner sagging?
Anyone else had this problem with their 128? The back end seems to be sagging and I can’t figure out how it clips together. I can push it up back to its original spot but it falls right back down.

Gonna have to take it to a body shop to get a pretty fix. All car headliners can sag, it's just a matter of time.
Be sure to try parking out of the sun, use a sun shade when needed and get a good tint.

Mine let go completely recently. Been riding around with it pinned up with thumbtacks.
Do not waste your time with trying to glue it back or steaming it to reactivate old glue. The problem is when the glue let's go it takes fibers with it which won't take new glue well. 2 good options: body shop and upholstery shop to remove it and recover with new fabric... Or new headliner I took the opportunity to buy a new 1M slicktop headliner and CF sunroof delete plug. Pretty big job.

My friend is dealing with his slicktop headliner failing completely. A shop claims that the windshield must be removed to successfully and properly remove the headliner panel. Can anyone shed light onto this?

Hey! Did you ever end up resolving this? I’m having the EXACT same issue on my 128.

I know it's a radically different application, but on my '92 Camaro my whole headliner was falling down. I removed the plastic trim holding the liner up, applied 3m Spray Adhesive (~$20) and spent a good twenty minutes pressing the liner back up into the ceiling until I was sure it would stay there. That worked for the three years I had the car, with no signs of failure forthcoming. Would definitely try that again.

I am having the same problem on my 128i. Most of the posters in this thread seem to think this is cloth coming away from the backer, but in my and the OP's case, the entire headliner board is sagging away from the roof by the rear window.
Has anyone found a solution to this? |

Good you bring this up. My E90 is having the same issue. Have procrastinated for a while now. My sunroof too.
