Yes, that's one - there is usually a road sign way before the intersection or exit in Queensland and my experience with NSW and Vic, and in Perth the signs usually come up very late pretty much just before the exit/turn.
two - they often have street names instead of the destinations which makes it difficult to navigate if you don't know which road you are supposed to get onto. We have the suburbs/town on our road signs, and the street name where the exit is so it's very clear. We also have exit numbers now on the major highway so it's very to get to places you don't know even without a map. Three - the airport sign - the plane doesn't point towards the direction you have to turn. Sorry about bagging your road signs, but you should try to experience the ones on the East Coast - it's so much better. PS. The other thing which's different is your traffic lights takes so much longer to switch.

Glad to hear you had a good time here in the Wild West! The weather wasn't too bad this weekend - Sunday was a ripper! Yes - the road and street signs suck - I noticed that about 26 years ago and I guess I'm just used to it now.
Tell us about your trip to MR...manage to fit in any wineries?

Went to cullens, Xanado, brookland (obviously not in that order). Had lunch at Xanado, and then to Leuwin. We and two leeuwin estate art series at our wedding, and as we were late coming to our reception (we took an extra 1.5hrs in our photoshoot at whitehaven), we didn't get to drink a drop of the 2000 Leeuwin Chard that I was looking forward to.
Finally, got there, bought a 2003 instead although the 2000 was available as they advise that's probably the better pick. We fell in love with Cottesloe Beach, when we drove there on the first day after a little trip to Frementle. We spent the afternoon there yesterday watching the Sun goes down. Such a lovely spot, my wife already stated that she like to move to the West!! Applecross she demanded until she found out how much houses there cost.

Yes, Applecross is a beautiful spot on the Swan River and the beach at Cottesloe is great -especially in summer. I know what you mean by the sunsets - we are fortunate to live beachfront and never tire of the setting summer sun. Warm summer evenings with an ice cold beer - a great way to end the day!

Geez, I thought a NW trip in a day sucked, let along from the east coast! Glad you saw sense and overnighted. Perth CBD pretty well shuts down after 6 or 7pm, but it's slowly getting better with some (supposedly) good small bars. If I were you, I'd go to a nice restaurant - Catch the ferry to Incontro's across the river on the foreshore at South Perth. Is good food and has nice views and then wander back across the Narrows bridge to your hotel...

I walked through the inner city malls every night Monday to Thursday two weeks ago and, apart from restaurants & internet cafes, the only place I saw open was Borders (til about 7pm I think)?
