Thanks so much for organising. I'd definitely be interested in a track day. EC or Wakefield I don't mind as long as the price is right. As for an EC contact, email Alexandra Fairweather from ARDC. She's the general manager of EC and should be able to organise track hire. Alex@ardc.com.au

EC is generally booked out for many months in advance. Weekends are a year in advance with a pecking order of priority, V8 Supercars, National racing series, State series, CAMS affiliated clubs, corporate days and then anyone left. Good luck. Might have more luck with the skid pan or drifting circuit.
WP much easier, but again weekends are generally all booked out months in advance.

Thanks for doing this, i'd say just go for Wakefield Park
just book into a regular day and it will cost half that. you get plenty time on the track, enough to get that i can't concentrate any more feeling. usually you get 20 minutes every hour which surprisingly comes around pretty quick. on the way down i usually take a detour on some bumpy back roads to bundanoon for a coffee, they have good coffee at the old bike shop, on the way back there are a lot of options for a stop or just put the foot down and get home. EC is a better track, and if you can get a day there take it, but you gotta call them, just ring the ARDC, emails wont get you any where the ladies handling the bookings are sweet old dears that don't do emails. |

interesting... 10hrs drive is not too bad, but leaving my wife behind again - I would be in big trouble...

Hay Donald, don't put your card on the counter until you have all the money from the entries. it seems that people bale when the time comes to pay.
We lost more than a few bucks last time round. Maybe best if you have a specific day set up, and just say i will see you there then there is no commitment required from you to have to pay up front as we had to. |

Go with a "Speed off the streets" day Donald, no hassle on you to organise, just finding a day that suits majority and run with it. I'd recommend picking a day that's no before a major event, else there would be lots turning up as a practice session. Check out Wakefields calendar http://www.wakefieldpark.com.au/calendar I'm tempted to drive up, it's at least a little closer for us Mexicans! |

Thanks guys for all your feed.
From the moment I said I will try organise to this evening, it seems there are more reasons given why i shouldn't bother organising a private track day at SMP and WPR. Personally I don't care much for 'speed off the streets' open track day.... after damage to my e46m a few years back. I don't care to mix around with other Subbies, EVOs, Renaults etc who assume they have a point to prove just because we drive Germans, albeit the cheap ones. So, if there are minimum 9 of you guys out there who are interested in spending maximum $500 for a closed 7-hr track day for the 10 of us, PM me and I will organise the day at Wakefield. Would be happy to bring the 235 and 1M and drive them one after another on the same day same track. Until then, maybe we should just go on Dr Jekyl's drive day. |

For those who would like a one day trip, can I suggest the old road to Broke via Wollombi & Pains Crossing.
BTW the Bucktes Way to Giro has seen better days, drove my 4WD there last month and dodged some terrible potholes.

Just looking at the motel situation, it looks like if we have say 6-10 guys we would have to stay at different hotels in port mac as most of them only have 3 rooms or so vacant for the sat 4th Oct (even this far out!) but I'm sure we could all meet somewhere central for dinner & brekky in the morning. Would your old man be keen to come along? |
