I'm off work next Wednesday. May head down to see what I can do with my car. Marty if you're around would be good to catch up and better if you have the new tyres by then too

Hopefully I'll have them and definitely should be there next week.
Best tonight was 11.8mph with a 1.8 sixty foot with wheelspin logs looked good, i'm cranking some good top end boost. At least I had three runs in a row running 11.9, 11.8, 11.9 nice and consistent now, before the times where very erratic. Very happy with the result. |

I borrowed them from a mate, nothing wrong with the slicks accept it would have damaged by guards
He already had them on rims so at last minute I tried them on and they didn't fit. |

Time to hack your guards up with an airsaw and bolt on some SLR5000 style bolt on flares

Ended up getting some Nitto NT01 semi slicks yesterday,
They seem to be holding the power very well. Have to see how well at the track. The great thing about these tyres is the more they wear the more grip you get. You can actually shave the rubber and turn it into a two groove slick. |

What diameter rim did you get them mounted on? Ideally the NT05R's would have been a better choice, but the NT01's will most likely be a lot better than the 20" nankangs |

I'm looking for a drag type tyre. NT05R's are not available in 256/35 18". Any suggestions for a DOT approved tyre. The R888 sounds like a natural option but it's not a specialist drag tyre. Looking for something that doesn't need a burn out to warm up for my next 2 x 1000m events. Anyone know of a Mickey Thompson tyre that will work or a suitable alternative?

https://www.hoosiertire.com/specdrag.htm#DOT Drag Radial All drag radials will require a burnout for them to work effectively though to prep them for a launch... If you were serious you may wish to get a line locker kit also If you were going to get serious enough to get some slicks get some dedicated drag rims also, hooseir do a 275/40 17". These would most likely require some guard mods or you could go down to a 16" rim, hoosier also do a 255/50 which would be a nice meaty sidewall with some flex in it http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...r=17&zip-code= Like all comp tyres you should pay to have them heat cycled before use Last edited by DR-JEKL; 08-16-2015 at 10:45 PM.. |

I got the nt01 only because that's the only ones that where available on short notice, I know it's a track tyre but it's going to be and is a lot better than my spare set of r888's I have two sets of them sitting on the shelf from my Evo x
We will see the next time I go to the track don't know if I'll make it this week, booked out solid with work |

I use to run them on my supercharged vk Calais back in the day on 15 inch rims. NT05R's and NT555R's (none in the country) For street use and occasional drag NT01 should be sufficient, let you know how they hold up. |

R888s are a decent option for 1000m events.
They don't need a lot of warm up and they are fairly stiff so will be stable at the high speeds you reach over the 1000m |

Hi guys, so having this kit for a couple of weeks now things have been fun, got the tuning sorted no final power figures yet.
I was always boosting to 23 psi tapering to 13 by redline now i'm boosting to 19 and tapering to 15.9psi at the the track and making more power on the dyno. All things considered best bang for buck compared to other kits, with a return line and regulator this kit is suitable for a 1000hp I've been told. I'll never see that I guess. I need a bigger intercooler now as with making more power the inlet temps started to creep up even with one of the best on the market that I have Meth is the way to go and the easiest to bring down the temps but is also very corrosive to aluminium and that's why its not recommended with the PI kit. I'm extremely happy with the outcome still need a little fine tuning here and there in the back end flash but overall I'm happy. |
