Another new member - 135i Convertible

Some of you might remember this car on Ebay about 6 months ago. The owner (truthfully) stated that mice had gotten into his garage and chewed a bunch of wiring in the engine bay and had built a nest or two behind
the back seat. The car only had 14,500 miles and the owner was asking 21,000 for it. He had 8,000 dollars of receipts for the rodent damage (which I now have) and was open to offers as well. I figured how bad could it be?
He stated (again truthfully) that everything worked great on the car except the back-up sensors. I made him an offer of 17,000 for the car sight unseen and just prior to the auction ending he agreed to sell me the car.
When I got the car delivered to me it was in great shape and had 3m like plastic protection wrap covering the entire front end of the car (I mean the ENTIRE hood, entire front bumper, entire front fenders, rocker panels, and part of the rear bumper. Unfortunately, it had a slight mouse pissy smell in the interior as well which I traced to the rear carpet area. It took about 3 weeks of working a couple of hours a day to strip the interior and replace/clean where necessary, and getting the plastic wrap off the hood and fenders was a monumental effort. The end result was a practically new 135i with nearly new Michelin non-rft tires, and a Dinan exhaust. Since then I have put 5,000 trouble-free miles on the car including a road trip to Florida and back. I must say I like the 135i over the 335i I owned a couple of years back. It seems to be more nimble and fits in my garage much better. My biggest complaint so far is the sun visors...I know not much of a complaint but they are really flimsy. The only mods so far are LED running lights and wheel spacers. The backup sensor issue turned out to be a bad pdc module and I replaced it with one I found on ebay. Anyway, glad there's a great forum like this that offers so much information and advise.
This is a pic from the original Ebay listing:

And a pic of the car after a 900 mile drive straight through to St. Pete, Florida. Love my drop top!

Welcome! Nice looking vert. Mice (or rats) got into my car a few years ago and chewed some wiring. The tech that did the repair said that little rodents love the taste of BMW wiring.

After that happened I cleaned out my garage and sealed up every nook and cranny. It is now pest proof... I hope... so far, anyway. Fingers crossed.

Pretty car and welcome to a 135i! I was looking at 335i convertibles and decided the 135i convertible was more fun (and also fit in my garage better than a 335).

Enjoy your new ride that you got a great deal on!

Welcome!
I almost bought a 2009 drop top 135, but it had been a smokers car and smelled like a big cigerette. I hope you enjoy your 135!
