Sorry to bring up another older topic, but I was deciding on red leather and 'ette and I'm leaning towards 'ette to save me quite a bit.

I would have gotten leatherette if it came in Terra.

But the desire for the color won out.

The leather in my X3 is very nice to the touch, and does not get as hard and cold in winter vs. Leatherette. I ordered Leatherette (heated...) for cost reasons and becouse I was not thrilled with the Leather color combos. Had there been the Terrcotta/black combo that is available elsewhere (UK?) I might have been tempted.

The leatherette in my friends X3 seemed quite terrible.. but when I sat in a 3 at the dealership it was nice. I guess it's how the material is cared for that made the difference. The X3's interior was not maintained like I think most of us would. I opted for leather and not the leatherette, but I think the leatherette is still pretty nice as long as you keep it that way

I don't see lemon available here in Chicago??? I was going to get coral red with Alpine White because I thought the leatherette would look cheap, but now I think I will just get the 135i manual with the sports pkg. and comfort access. Alpine White, manual, black leatherette with piano gloss black interior trim. MSRP with dest. $37,125. I will wait until I can get this discounted about $1k. Around $36k plus TTL. OH YAH, WOW, CAN'T WAIT.

That probably won't happen this year, given the tight supply coming in.

Being a cheap ass isn't the total issue here. If you have JACK to blow, I will give you my Paypal account # and you can send me $1450, OK. Wear is also an issue, not just cost. I don't see lemon leather as an option here in Chicago?

I will wait until next spring then. I might still get the $875 Premium HI-FI since I have found the real specs on it. I didn't think it would be worth it, but now I must hear the difference. Leather is also a SLIGHT possibility.:iono:

To be honest, the only reason i'm opting for leather is for the coral red. If only they had coral red in leatherette.

Thanks brother. I need to get O.T. at work to get leather. I am 99% sure I am getting Apline White, and if I get leather, it WILL be Lemon or Coral red. I love them both. The Lemon looks classy while the Coral red is HOT sporty.

I am just worried about the leather's wear factors vs. tough leatherette. OH BOY, come on Lotto.

Terra is available in the US... I ordered it. It's not configurable online but your SA can order it for you.

I wish they would have just offered Alcantara. I have that now and like it much better than leather or ette.

I'm a fan of these seats, and of cloth seats in general. I would guess that BMW doesn't offer them in the US because of the volume/importance of our used car market - they want to keep resale values up, especially to support CPO resale values. Certainly cloth is more likely to show wear and damage over time and detract from the value of the car.. many would have to be re-upholstered by the dealers before going to CPO.

With that said, does anyone know if the cloth seats above would be available through BMW individual / special order? I realize there would likely be a premium associated with these.

Not according to my dealer. I also wanted cloth.
