Sweet! I was worried about fitting (of course, I was worried after I ordered and paid the deposit -lol) but could always sell it - I have a funny feeling they may be in demand - especially since I'll have the first drop top in town...

Not everyone has the same ratio of height in upper and lower body. Just because a person of your height fits, doesn't mean everyone else that height will too (long torsos can be a problem)...

I test drove a 128 today and sat in a 135i. I'm 6'7", with a 38" inseam. I had way more than enough legroom and even had to move the seat up a little bit. Headroom was tight, with my head just barely fitting without having to bend my neck (shew). I definitely couldn't comfortably fit with a helmet. I hope this helps.

I test drove a 135i this week. I am only 5'11", but I have a long torso and short legs. With the seats lowered all the way, I had just barely enough headroom to fit (less than an inch to spare). No way I could ever fit with a helmet. I think the moonroof is responsible for the tight fit. I'd be far happier to skip it. I fit much better in the M3 Sedan - I drove them both.

Wow.. I am 6'3", and have plenty of room for a helmet. I had about 2" above my head to the roof. Are you positive you had the seats lowered all the way? :iono:

Yeah, I'm sure. I have only a 30" inseam (but tall above the waist). I also prefer a rather upright driving position.

I was at the dealer yesterday, and even with the seat all the way lowered, I do not think that there was room for a helmet. I am only 5'7", average build. Plan to go back with a helmet to double check. At the very least it will be very tight. Agree that problem appears to be the sun roof. I think it is a mistake to design an enthusiast's car, with no option to delete the sun roof, both from a head room and track safety standpoint.

sat in one today, and had all the room i could ever need, the seat wasn't even all of the way back. i actually shocked at the amount of overall room up front. i'm 6'4" 190 lbs, 34" inseam. i also sat in a 335 coupe, and my head hit the head liner.

Tall drivers, have no fear. I'm 6'6", more legs than torso, and I fit easily. Picked mine up today and drove around to my heart's content. I even had to move the seat up. Fits like a glove, with one exception --the weenie armrest gets in the way of shifting if you're sitting back. Just put it up.

I sat in a 135i coupe and at my height (6'11") I can forgetaboutit. Although I am more leg than torso, there was no where near enough headroom to be comfortable. The moonroof obviously ate up a lot of the headroom. I would love to sit in a coupe without a moonroof. Sigh.
I then sat in a 128i convertible with power non-sport seats. Like the coupe, the leg room was fantastic. The headroom was good and I was able to fit without looking too much like a lowrider. However, it will be nice if the manual seats give just a little more headroom than the power seats. So I say that anyone under 7' should fit in a convertible. Just don't expect anyone behind you to have any room. |

6'3" 38" waist, short legs with all of my height from the waist up. Leg room is never an issue, but headroom always is. The Coupe is a little tight. I can make it work fine in the Coupe with the excellent "Tilt" feature BMW has on their seats. Now the Vert!? Totally different. The Vert specs say it has 38.6" of headroom, but I can tell you for a fact it is more. There is TONS of headroom with the top up in the Vert. For a guy like me that has all of his height in his Torso, the Vert is a godsend. Yes, I have to put the seat all the way down, but for once I am actually looking through the MIDDLE of the windshield.
My advice to tall guys is if the Coupe is to small, try the Vert. I know it's more $$$, but it is also an extremely well done convertible, and for the price I think it is an excellent buy.

I understand about the vert having more headroom, but for those of us who need the headroom for the helmet on the track, that just makes one's head the rollbar:iono:

No problem.
I'm 5' 11'' with a longish torso as well and have no problem. I think there's more headroom than there is in a 3.

Since you're from Sweden, maybe you sat in a 1er without a moonroof? It makes a huge difference. I just came from the car show and brought my helmet. The only BMW I could fit in was the M3 Sedan (no M3 Coupe there).

Do you think you could still fit with a helmet?
