I haven't worked with either an N54 or a Turbo car before, so we're in for some learning. But I've got an announcement coming up that should be quite helpful in that regard.

Any rough numbers on the weight savings from stripping the interior?

Actually - there won't be much - we are racing stock class and it all has to go back. The only weight savings will be the seats, but that will be cancelled and more by the cage.

We've gotten the answer from Steve himself and are very happy to announce that we will indeed have Dinan Engineering as a performance parts sponsor on the race car!
http://www.dinancars.com/ We really hope to benefit their 29 years of experience and dedication to performance without sacrifice. As Dinan continues to develop products for the 135i, we'll be working with our local authorized Dinan shop, BMS (Bullet Motorsport Speedlab) http://www.bmsracecars.com/ One of the first things we'll be looking to get in the car (being we were lucky enough to have a v80 DME) is their software Hopefully, the next thing ready for production will be their improved oil cooler kit

Looks amazing! I take it you will be getting around 380-395 BHP to the rears? Once the car is flashed with dinan's software.

We'll try to weigh anything that we end up not putting back in the car. (Note that we had the manual sport package front seats)

I don't think we'll be allowed the full Stage 2 or 3 upgrades in stock class, so we may be around those numbers, but at the flywheel.

Why the concern about what DME version? I thought the issue was that with later versions, while BMW could tell you have done it, but they were still able to be reflashed. Obviously, this could be a warranty issue for the motor and other driveline parts. Surely whith this build, warranty is out the window anyway?
Maybe I do not fully understand the issues with the later build DMEs. At any rate, the car looks like it will be great. |

It may take a while for some tuners to crack the code. Piggybacks seem to be able to get their systems working a lot quicker.
In BMW Club Racing, in stock and prepared classes - at least the way the rules are written now - piggyback systems are not allowed. Only flashes.

Great progress. I can't believe I'm seeing a 135 in those pics, but it sure does look great. Keep up the great work.
