Short Time Between Order & Build!
So after mulling this over for more than a year... I'm trading my 2002 330xi for a 135, and I placed my order last Saturday, May 9th.
Yesterday, my CA e-mailed me with my VIN # and advised me that my car would start production TODAY, May 15th. I'm glad I spent a lot of time at the dealer, and on this forum, getting 100% comfortable with the options I wanted - as I didn't even have a week to change my mind! I appreciate all of the great posts and information this site provided! My car is alpine white, taupe leather, premium package, M sport package, cold weather package and iPod/USB. |

Same thing happened to me, placed my order on March 31st and car started production April 2nd! Needless to say I was excited, I take delivery of the car tomorrow! I won't be able to sleep tonight.

The dealers you guys bought from probably had allocations they could still modify before they hit the production floor. With car sales as slow as they are, it's not surprising.
Congrats on the purchase. |

I just ordered yesterday.
My CA was saying how BMW has tried not to scale down operations, so they are plucking guaranteed orders (sales) ahead of time just to keep the production line going during the recession. Makes sense to me. |

When I ordered last year in April my dealer had an allocation they could alter and I still didn't see the car until the end of June. Times are quite different now.

The same thing happened to me...I just placed my order last week. It was just a matter of a few days between placing the order and the car going into production. I'm just glad I'm happy with my options as I had no time to make changes. CA is saying the car should be here between June 15-25....can't wait!

There is nothing better than ordering a car exactly how you want it. By far the wait is the worst part but every day you drive it, you'll be happy that you got the car just the way you wanted it.

Ordered for mine got put through on April 20th by the CA and it was already built by the first week of may, I was very impressed on the turnaround. It is already on the boat on its way over!
Apparently there has been a pretty big increase in orders to prompt them to start double-shifts again at the Leipzig factory, though mostly in the hatch segment I would assume: http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news...0515-b52a.html |
