Easy: 05 M3
Reasons: The M3 has already incurred the bulk of it's depreciation so if you're buying it and later have to sell because your wife wants an SUV, you won't suffer that extra resale penalty. I don't like leasing because it encourages poor financial management.

How much do you want to spend on maintenance? Depending on the miles and condition (was the previous owner 21 and a Vin Diesel fan?), that M3 could easily cost you an extra arm and leg to keep it running.

+10000, maintenance costs on an M3 are off the wall, go look into the service records and only purchase one that has been properly maintained, otherwise you will fall into a bigger money pit then buying a new car!

Which one are you leaning towards more?
Go for that one.

A lease is generally a poor way to go - you pay for all the depreciation and use, but show nothing for it in the end.
Now, if you are concerned about the HPFP being a liability without a solution, perhaps a lease is smart, since you can turn the car back in and not worry about long-term issues. That aside, buying a car will mean that it is yours, and after 3 years, the money spent goes into something that is still yours. After 3 years on a lease, you have nothing to show. The M3 won't have depreciated much... |
