Would You....

let the dealer wash your car after you said in the survey that the car came back dirty?

so i took my car in to get electrical bugs fixed, that couldnt be fixed because the problem couldnt be recreated, and oil changed, and my car came back dusty after i had washed it the day before and not driven it. i got an email from the service manager saying that if i bring my car in they would like to wash and vac it for me to make up for that.

I'd prefer that the dealer not wash my car at all...they'll likely just be creating swirl marks in the paint. It sucks that the car came back dusty though.

I make it very clear to my SA that none of my cars are to be washed. However on one occasion there was a new detailer in who didnt know my cars and proceeded to wash it. This was on my black X5 - I was furious!

I had a right go at them and the dealer principal offered to get it fully detailed and apply the paint protection and for me to drive around in a new 750i whilst this was being done. However, I asked how they would do the detailing and I was not impressed as its no where near my standard or even close to the effort I put into detailing my own cars.

I just demanded that the next service I did not expect to pay for labour - they agreed with no arguments.

My dealer broke my windshield (actually the detailer did) while washing it. Let the wiper arm slam down on it with no wiper installed. Why the wiper was off, I don't know. They couldn't tell me. Then they put me in a dirty, empty 118i while they fixed it. Germany blows for customer service. They don't give a shit about you. And there are no rules or customs that say they have to.

My dealer kinked one of the my rims while washing. They agreed to buff it out and now it looks brand new.

It would be a pain to drive my car to the dealer just for them to wash it and clean it. So no, I wouldn't.

If anyone is thinking of letting their dealer wash their car, then check out this post: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=255930

This happened at the same dealer in Pensacola where I go for service. When I went this past weekend, they asked me if I wanted my car washed and the interior vacuumed. I opted for just having the interior vaccumed. I'm really anal about anyone other than myself washing my car.

Not a chance. I get up at like 530 to wash my car just before my 730 AM appointments.

They know me all to well, and have it written in CAPS on my RO's...

I dropped my car off for a few items and forgot to ask them not to wash my car.

They did anyway. But it still came back with a big glob of sap all over the rear bumper. So I complained and my SA offered a full detail. I politely refused. I just don't trust the lowest paid staff at the dealer to care for my car properly.

Mine is in for service now. DSC Errors (appears to be a common BMW issue across models), inside lining on vert top has broken clip, minor things like that.

First service at my dealership, so I left the sign on the windshield, printed up my instruction sheet of issues and of course put the "DO NOT WASH" on it, and then instructed the Service Advisor. One of the other SA's asked why. I started up with "Do they only use clean microfiber mitts that have been washed and rinsed after each and every single car? Do they make new wash water after every car and rinse out the bucket?.....and so on ....and so on......." and he just nodded his head and said "Gotcha".

They know. But in saying this, it also sets a precedent. The SA's then know that you are someone who pays attention. This means that the SA's won't be inclined to pull the wool over your eyes on a repair or warranty bit, because they know that they would be caught and receive a world of crap in return.

At my dealership, each SA that I noticed had their "SA Review List" on their computer monitors, of each SA and their rating from BMW according to their driver reviews. That is pretty darn cool. Right in their face is a list of how good they are, and it's like a competition. Braman BMW in Miami.

Dealer will never wash my car again, after they scratched the heck out of it the first two times they did it. JB requires some serious TLC, and it's just not possible when they're washing and drying in ten minutes.

To their credit, they completely fixed it at no cost and without any resistance.

Only if they hand wash it. If they run it through their pot-scrubbing machine I will kill them.

no way would i ever let the dealer wash my car

one time they did and i was so mad but the SA explained to me that the car had been parked under a tree and there was bird poop on it and said there was no way he could ever hand a customers car w/ bird poop on it, i understood and he promised never to do it again

the way i explain it to a new SA is, i wouldnt trust you to give my GF a bath, so no way i would let you wash the mistress either
