Front license plate
Was thinking of calling my dealer to ask them not to drill for my front plate...just hate how it looks. I live in Oregon, so unfortunately we do have a front plate law. Just wondering how many people are not putting on the front plate...taking the risk.

Well I am in CA and we have the useles law as well. My dealer did not drill for it either. they just threw the mounting palte in the trunk.lol I am going to leave it off, and just pay the tickets as they come. It does look awful. front plates destroy the look of nice cars.

I'm also in CA and asked the dealer to not drill holes in my bumper. I'm going to risk the tickets, I've never gotten one for not having a front plate on my other car.

I still like my GoMiniGo plate mount. I've gotten so many complements for it. And, it doesn't block off the IC or the brake's vent. AND yet, absolutely no drilling!

After three $60 tickets I finally broke down and installed the front plate. I used the Gominigo mount as well.

I'm planning to get the cp-e TowPlate: http://www.cp-e.com/2146.html
It looks like the gominigo plate frame but maybe a little bit better construction. |

I installed a Skene Design front plate bracket. The mounting holes are under the lip of the bumper, not on the front face.

I have the CPE mount on the tow hook. Looks very clean, but the plate got bent in the car wash. I'll have to tape the edges to the bracket.

Same law here, but I ignore it. I am not about to drill onto my bumper. I have had cops drive by my non-plate front and my dark tint sides with no issues yet.

What you can do is put the plate in the corner of your dash if you are concerned and if you get pulled over just say when you picked the car up that they did not have the correct color so they had to order it and once it arives you are taking it to them to install it. Most police will not give you so much trouble as to pull you over for just that. You might want to look into the plate holder that is positioned under the front bottom passanger side of the bumper and slides out and up on a hinge. Sorry the name illudes me currently but I saw it on this forum in the for sale section a month ago or so but I do remember it was about $90 bucks.
Here is another http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...ighlight=plate This is not the exact one I was talking about but is the same minus placement http://www.swiftmotorsports.com/prod...2966f6892cf304 Hope this helps |

I live in NY and we have a front plate law. My Corvette and Mini S dont have front plates attached. Over four years Ive gotten 2 tickets for not having them mounted but was pulled over for more serious infractions and they gave me plate tix instead. Believe me, I took them gladly and was relieved!
My new 135i will not have one either. |

There's no way I'd risk getting pulled over for something as trivial as a front plate. If the state require's it, I'm running it. All I need is a cop pulling me over for something stupid like that when I'm coming home from dinner and then have to worry about being questioned and tested for DUI (even if I'm not). Low profile FTW as far as I'm concerned.

I got the cp-e one as well when I got a ticket just for that. Don't expect that just because it's a minor infraction they won't stop you for it, especially if the cop has nothing better to do.

I bought my vehicle after it had gone through a dealership in Indiana, so they drilled her. I bought bumper plugs and am going to install them this weekend.
Does anyone know if we can have stickers like DTNJNQ and 123D-M made in California and get away with it. I think it may at least dissuade an officer from pulling you over. |
