What Gear Am I In?
I drove a mate's 335i the other day and noticed his display showed what gear the car was in when in auto. Sadly, mine doesn't do this, but would be mighty handy if it did. Is there any setting to change the display from showing just D, to showing D1/D2/etc?

Yes, I'm aware it'll show the gear in manual mode, but is it possible to show the gear while in auto?

Yeah, it has the fancy gear selector and seven gears.

Drive manual
Driving dad's X6, even that has the current gear displayed when in DS mode. It says S1, S2, S3 etc. when it's shifting automatically and M1, M2, M3 when in 'manual'.

Just curious, but why would you want to know what gear it is in in complete auto mode? You could just guess which gear it is by what rev it is but I guess more convenient to just look?

Well he seems to have edited away the problems. Too bad we're all too 'amateur' to notice.

Manual fanboys started this petty argument (As tends to happen 99% on this forum). *lame*

My point exactly. We say one thing then we look like the bad people even though we try to keep our mouths shut but when someone with a manual hops in a conversation they shouldn't be in and stirs up retarded and false crap who the heck are they? You know when I owned my 6mt e90 I was never cocky or so mislead as some of the 6mt members found on this board. Yes I say amatuers because the majority of the members here that even battle the situation are people who just got into the n54 tuning world. While a few and I mean a few of them actually owned a 335i or something relitively close to that before the 135i they own now and then come talk smack about what hey read on paper. Well hey buddy I got news for you. I know the real world scenario experience and first hand know what works better for the car as far as perfomance goes. So I will say this once more and if you have any objection then do not reply back unless you have some evidence to back up your theory. Until then the steptronic will nonetheless be the faster option (may not be the most fun out of the 2 but it ain't far behind) I will say that. So you see once again I DO NOT HATE the manual version of the 135i as to tell you the truth I originally would have chosen it juntil I test drove one with steptronic and it just seemed to perform better, faster, and in something different then having a third pedal. I'm just stating that I knew the steptronic equiped 1's and 3's were always the faster ones when I owned my e90 6mt and that is partially why it was a hard move to make when choosing steptronic. Well there you have it. I'm sure their is one in the crowd that will still have a hard time understanding.

What RadiuM said originally: Quote:
Note the tongue-in-cheek emoticon ':P'. I mean, he even made it extremely clear with the comment "p.s. I'm taking the piss". He was not being serious, nor was he trying to provoke a response. Then, BBK said: Quote:
"Only grandma's drive autos.."; "oh too bad my grandma can go faster than your manual..." etc. etc. Nothing was ever intended to be 'fanboy' or provoke a heated argument. We chastise the hell out of each other and we bloody love it. Sorry if there is a misunderstanding, but please, let's keep it civil.

I'm so glad I ask my original question. I didn't intend on starting an argument, but boy is it entertaining.
