Rear speaker hum, buzz
About 2 months ago, I purchased a 2008 128i convertible with 7400 miles on the odometer. I went out to the garage a few days ago and was greeted by a loud humming (buzzing)noise coming from the rear speakers. The only way I could get the noise to stop was by unhooking the battery. The noise hasn't returned....yet!
I found a few threads on this site discussing the same problem, but they didn't post a solution. My local dealer has contacted his service rep and has no answer for me. My local dealer has seen some amp problems on the 3 series however. I would appreciate any knowledge gained by others with this problem. Thanks. |

Anyone else had this problem and had a solution? I've had this happen twice. The first time was a few weeks ago as soon as I opened the door on my car it started and I was like "wow my cell phone is really messing with the radio" and started the car. Even with the radio off it was still going. Turn the car off, same problem. I pulled a radio fuse and it stopped, then put it back in and did not happen again until this morning. I was grabbing something out of the trunk of the 1 as I was driving my TSX I didn't even open a door and it started. The key for the 1 hangs on a hook next to it on the wall which is how I could open the trunk. So I got what I needed out of the trunk and threw it in the TSX, and then opened the passenger door to get into the fuse box again. By the time I pulled the glove box cover out and found the fuse...it stopped! Now I started to draw a conclusion:
Both times I made an action on the car that fires up the fuel pump but did not start it right away. However in the second event, I did not start the car instead I walked away. By the time I came back and without making another action like starting it, the problem went away. My guess is a weird circumstance that causes the pump to kick in and cause interference with the amp or just speakers or wires in the back. I have had car stereos in the past and had the classic "speaker whine" and it is a similar noise. Anyone else have this and talk to a dealer? I am calling mine a little later to ask, but unless it is doing it at the time it will be hard for them to do anything about it.

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=519483 if it's anything like this humming noise from the speakers which happens when the cars aux kicks in when the door opens... (even when the car is off) then sorry to say there is no fix right now.
Check it out and let me know.

Yep that's exactly it. So who do we complain to, BMWNA?

AS of now I would assume so. They are really the only ones who could push for a software update It is unfortunate we are the select few people who have this problem and there is no fix...
