I stuck with the OEM size. I've been very happy with them vs. RFT. Very good grip.

You can go with a wider 225/255 setup no problem. The added tire width gives more traction and a bit of a more aggressive stance. Throw some spacers on there for a nice aggressive, oem look

Haywood and Frank both make good points.

I have the Hankooks now in that size. I am also running slightly more aggressive fitment wheels front and rear. I did have to roll the rear fender just a tad to get it to fit without rubbing, but that was mainly because my wheel poked out from stock position a few mm. I previously had those sizes with Michelin tires on the stock wheels without any problems, so I would guess you would be fine with the Hankooks.

Hankook v12's
Replaced my oem rft's at 11,000 miles with 225/255 kook's on the oem wheels. Absolutely unbelievable difference...rides like a different car in every way!!! I have the sport suspension on a cab 135i..oem was harsh, uncomfortable...now, it rides firm but with comfort over all conditions..grips much, much better...do not waste any more time ...get rid of the rft's asap!!!! Best upgrade by far!

TireRack has a warning that the 255 setup is "too aggressive" and that the "fender must be rolled to avoid rubbing". I see a lot of users out here that recommend these tires, but have they had to roll the fenders?
I'm ready to order and will be keeping the stock rims (for now), on stock sport suspension and don't want have to roll the fenders. Feedback is appreciated...Cheers |

No rubbing issues with M sport package 2009 135i and the 225/40 R18's up front and 255/40 R18's in back.

This discussion is not really meaningful without mentioning what suspension mods\lowering you are running.
I'm running the Eibachs and am afraid to go 225\255 because the fronts look very tight already at 215. I posted a thread asking for anybody's specific experience with the Hankooks and Eibachs, but got no response from anyone running this combo, so I think I'll just go ahead and stick with the stock 215\245 sizes when ditching the Hankooks... ianc
