My husband and I were there today as well. Here are some pics of the M235, the M3 and the M4. The M3 was unlocked but the M4 was not.

That M4 is huge. I would almost mistake it for a 6 series!

meg, so what did you think of the M235?

i really love the aggressiveness of the new F80 M3. I think it's one of the top contenders to replace my 135is (assuming i do replace it and don't buy it out) after my lease is over.

I'm with you. I really don't like the M235 at all, but maybe it looks better in person? The M4 is a strong contender for next potential car for me as I don't want a 4-door, but if they make an M2 and it is like a smaller version of the M3/M4 I might be interested. I'll be curious to see what the new TT looks like too to see if they went a little more aggressive as a TTS or TTRS might be interesting along with the S3.

Some dealerships are actually showing M235s in their inventory right now, though no pictures, so I think they don't really have the cars, but are ones that are en route perhaps.

Can't wait for one of us to see and drive a new one and compare. I'll definitely be driving one and an M4 in the next few months to see if either does anything for me.

It sure does! I still get that new (cosmoline?) heated/burning chemical smell every once in a while.

My wife asked to drive the car to work this morning so i'm 135-less today

Bet you're itching to get past the break-in period to REALLY let her loose then, huh? The car that is.

All joking aside, I'm curious if you're going to get a post break-in oil change, as it's always a hotly debated topic.

Broke past 1200 miles yesterday actually, but haven't pushed real hard yet. I rolled the gas pedal the other day to 4.5k and woa these things can go and sound awesome while at it too. I'm almost afraid to push it all the way on public roads, especially considering it hasn't climbed past 30 degrees in a while here and i'm on summer tires...
I wasn't planning on swapping the oil post break-in, but now you have me thinking...

Come on Ladies, time to see what these cars are really capable of. Plus we can ultimately settle what's faster, a N54/55 or N52 (I'll be bringing my N52!)

I forget if you have a manual or DCT, but if it's DCT, you probably should try doing that throttle reset, especially if you were babying it for the first 1200 miles.

Took me awhile to start really letting her loose and getting past 4500 rpm and the only thing better than how fast it is there is the sound from the PE. =)

There are several schools of thought on the post break-in oil change. BMW covers it and calls for it on all M cars, so I decided to treat mine just like a baby M car - (1200 mile oil change and put michelin pilot super sports on her). Some of us decided it was complete overkill and unnecessary (IEDEI), others had it done, and owen2001 not only had it done but also sent his oil sample into blackstone labs for analysis. Some with manuals also did their transmission and differential fluids as well. I'd say if you intend to keep the car for a long time, it's worth doing, especially if you can find a coupon from a local dealer for like $79-$89. How effective or necessary it really is is debatable, but can't hurt. Owen2001's analysis of his oil after 1200 miles was it was pretty clean and didn't really have any abnormally high metals or anything in there for what it's worth.

Yep I have the DCT, I find it to shift pretty early in normal driving, would the throttle reset help that? I don't necessarily want to be accelerating hard, but i'd like my upshifts to happen a little later in general. As for the DCT lag in (1st gear) I've been reading about, my car did that for the first few hundred miles but has recently become much much better, so i'm happy with it now. I'm nervous that a throttle reset may bring that back in fact.
We are talking about putting the key in, pressing start and then holding down the gas pedal for 30 seconds, right?

Re: the initial oil change, yeah i'm more on the side of doing it. I always said this about all my cars, but this time i think this one is a keeper. =)

The DCT in normal mode will always upshift pretty quickly. The throttle reset, which is indeed the key in, press start (foot not on brake), hold all the way down for like 30+ seconds, then turn car on, whether purely psychological or real seems to make the car feel more alive and peppier as it'll subtly re-learn some shifting patterns but the gas pedal felt more responsive after I did it. RickMSport had a similar feeling when he did it after his break-in period.

Driving generally with the sport button on will make the gas pedal about twice as sensitive too. If you want it to hold the gears longer, but still be in automatic mode, just move the shift lever to the left so you're in DS mode. That will hold your gears to like 3-4k RPM as opposed to the 1500-2000 it does in normal drive mode.

For the oil change, check your dealer's website in the "value" section or service specials as they usually have some oil change deal. They usually don't list our cars, so I used a coupon for an N55 335 since it's the same. For like $80 it's worth it. I think we all find ourselves going out of our way to do special things on these unique lil cars, too. I always said I'd check my tire pressures once a month like a responsible driver, but never really started doing it til I got this car. I can also say that the fancy $14 BMW valve stem caps really do a hell of a lot better job of keeping the air in our tires compared to the stock dinky caps, too. First few months, I was losing 2-3 psi per month. After putting them on, I am usually dead on when I check every 4-5 weeks. So, I'd recommend those as well. They're quite perty, too.

Gregthegr8's constant reminders about tire pressures has me checking my tires like once a week I still have the "stock dinky" caps and they do a pretty good job. I thought I was done with mods after my trunk liner, but I'm going to bite the bullet and drop the ca$h on the BMW stem caps. I'm too lazy to go look it up, so tell me again where to find them.
