would an E9x BBK fit an E8x
i'm just curious, as there are so many more BBK's for sale over on e90post, and 99% of other parts will bolt up, suspension wise?
thanks ED: oo cool going by 'http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=772574 looks liek the answer is 100% yes |

You're talking about putting 335 brakes on a 135?? While the rotor is an upgrade, the caliper is a downgrade. And keep in mind the thread you posted is for a 130 and not a 135....The rotors have different offsets and may not clear oem wheels.

Ah in that case you probably can get away with it. Still though I'd be worried about the bracket and the rotor hat having a different offset for the 1 series vs 3 series. I'd contact the manufacturer to confirm.

The front should bolt up no problem. I believe it is the rear that will require modification.
E9x guys have been using 135i/BMW performance front brakes for years. Only a handful of them fit the rears. |

i once asked 'how are BBK's for 1 series universal when the 135i hub is different at the rear' -- i got no response so i assume black magic... i've contacted manufacturers about this sorta thing before, they're completely useless. Quote:
haha thanks! any chance you could explain how a BBK is universal when the 135i rear hub/rotor are completely different?.. more to the point, how can the same BBK fit both a 135i and a 128i... let alone a 328i/335i? |

except there's no such thing as a '128i' bbk? there's only '1 series E82 BBK' so... if they're only 'biased properly' for 135i's.. why don't they have non-135i-bbk's? so sounds like fitting a BBK on anything other than a 335i or 135i is just going to ruin brake bias? let alone having no idea how the rears fit with the hub differences. ED: but if it throws off brake bias, how come the 'bmwp BBK' is a direct bolt on, which is exactly the same as the 135i fronts? absolutely NONE of this makes sense to me... rears on a BBK should never fit without the hub flanges..... how do the front's work at all when they throw off brake bias when they're all offered as identical parts... etc. i'm actually worried more about the rears than the front's though.. can you answer about the rears? |

You can throw the bias off slightly and still be okay. I can't get into the details as that would be a question for a brake engineer. Stoptech would be a good source of information if you can get a brake engineer to speak with you. There are BBKs that are designed to keep the vehicle balanced, then there are BBKs that are designed just to bolt-on and disregard how it affects the bias. |

the front's are the same part numbers for all vehicles it applies for... no offence, but can i get someone that can properly answer any of my actual questions? :/ EVERY E8x BMW front BBK calipers have the P# 34116786741, 34116786742, also identical rebuild kits. and for the REAR, *only the rotors* are different part numbers (calipers 34216786743, 34216786744) example: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partxref.do?part=34216786743 rear BMWP caliper identical for ALL e8x and e9x BMW's http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partxref.do?part=34116786741 front so now my only question (basically the same as before) is now that i've worked out the calipers both front and rear for all of them are the same, how does a BBK work with the rear hub flanges and different OEM rotors? do you need to replace the flanges with 135i ones? or replace the 135i ones with something else? or is there just some black magic and it all works? how can an 'e82 front BBK 355mm' blah.. fit EVERY E82 on the rear.. not to mention every E9x..?
