Brake Pad Low Warning lamp On.
Hey Guys,
My 2009 128i Convertible (M-Sport/Premium) low brake warning lamp came on i do not want to take it to the dealer and get oem pads, i was wondering if anyone knew an aftermarket pad that i can use that has low dust and will give me the stopping power i need to perform with the m-sport on the street. Thanks guys. |

I prefer the factory pads bc of their initial "bite" when cold. They really feel good and make the car stop well on cold brakes. Sometimes you don't have the time to warm up the brakes in a panic stop.
I also just started using AmourAll's wheel cleaner/sealer... I must say I am sold on this stuff. I drove 1,400kms and my brakes looked like they do on two days of driving w/o the treatment. I am amazed. Dack

I just installed the Hawk Ceramic low dust pads (yellow box). Well, they have low dust that's for sure...like NO dust. No initial bite at all either. If you stand on it, abs will kick on, so they have the capability I feel. Personally, I liked the feel of the oem pads, but thought I try something different with the hopes of lest dust.
Also, plan on having your rotors turned, and purchase a new low pad sensor (drivers side). It will usually break when taking it off. hth |

Thanks for the response guys, im still not sold on which ones to get yet i will search the forums. i visually inspected the brakes and it looks like the rear ones are very low so im gonna change them myself. As far as resetting the warning lamp. Will it go off on its own after the install, or do i have to go into the hidden menu to reset it?

You will need to reset the wear counter after you replace the pads AND sensors. I ended up going with Akebono. Very low dust but also less initial bite.

How do you go about resetting the sensor? I can get to the hidden menu and reset the warning lamp. I saw the Akebonos on amazon never heard of them but looks like everyone keeps talking about the cool carbons and the hawks on other threads.
