For all I know, the N54 uses cast pistons. It's just internet speculation for now until someone tears down the engine. I was reading the thread on E90post where someone said they had taken it apart and confirmed that the pistons were forged, but not much more than that. I could say I took mine apart and found they were made of corn. Doesn't make it true. The part numbers for the pistons did change somewhere along the line, but part numbers do change from time to time even though it may be the same part.

Just found some useful information,anything after 12/09 are not forged anymore there cast !!If you have the early build,your lucky ..

I'll have to look it up, but I thought that the only piece that was confirmed forged was the crankshaft on the N54. All other else was people claiming that the pistons were, with really no hard evidence to prove otherwise. I also remember someone on E90 post actually calling mahale and they claimed that the pistons weren't forged. I'll look it up later.

^did you read the thread? Its currently being debated but the guy that called Mahle did so regarding a late model 2009 N54, which has a different part number than earlier N54s

Bottom line...basic statistics:

How many people have meth on a N54/55 engine = "X"

How many have blown their engines = "Y"

Answer = What % chance you have of blowing your engine using meth on a N54/55 engine?

Y = % * X

Once you can answer the above questions and plug-in the answers then we will know if meth is as bad as you infer with your original post....
