COBB AP installed! So sweet.
Received my COBB AP today, but waited to install it when I got home. Couldn't be simpler. Total install time probably was 10-15 minutes, between it saving the stock map to the AP, and then loading the new map. All I can say is wow! This is how the car should be from the factory. I honestly wondered if my turbo's even worked prior to this. Now, there is no doubt. The car is a 2008 6mt, all stock for now (FBO parts en-route). I installed the linear throttle sport map since I only have access to 92 octane here in Washington. Roads are wet and it is about 40 degrees tonight. Getting on a nice long freeway on-ramp it spun up a bit in second, eased out and shifted to third, laid into the throttle and third started spinning up. Down low the map feels almost OEM, the linear throttle isn't as touchy as the stock throttle. Over about 4k rpm is when you really feel the turbos start to build boost.
Couldn't be happier! Car does do some weird stuff during install, dash warning lights and gongs, which I expected after watching the COBB youtube video. One strange thing is the fan/pump noise you hear when the car wakes up (what is that anyway, sounds like its under the rear passenger side) goes on for almost 5 solid minutes during the install. Now waiting on my catless DP's, FMIC, charge pipe, BOV, DCI, DP fix, and I'm ready to rock! |

Do you actually need the DP fix with Cobb? If you are running stg 2 you won't get any error codes.
Or is that for an emissions test?

I dont think that the system will show "readiness" with just the Stg2 flash.

Once you're FBO get some e85 or race gas so you can run the sport/aggressive + mapping, that's where the real fun is. Enjoy your AP!

I have a Procede rev3 installed and haven't gone the FBO route yet but I do plan to. I also have meth kit which I haven't installed.
The E85 maps sound really finicky on the Procede as as far as I know you can only run E85 maps or pump fuel maps and can't interchange them without uploading the alternate maps using a laptop. I'd get flexfuel but there's no one in Sydney to flash my DME and I don't feel like sending it by airmail to Vishnu... Can anyone chime in on how a Cobb with FBO and E85 maps can compare to a Procede with FBO and meth?

I wish. We don't have any E85 stations here in the Vancouver/Portland area. I am not going to spray meth. |

You may not get lights, but you will also not pass OBDII readiness if your state requires it.

I wouldn't be so sure, I just checked there and apparently there are several in the general area. Granted I have no idea how close they are to you, if it's a 50 mile drive that puts a damper on things.

I take that back. Called "Bob's Automotive" in Portland. They do sell E85 and its currently $3.15/gallon.
So, I assume I have to be FBO before I can run the E85? Also, how much do you guys put in, like 1/3 a tank? |
