iPhone 3g Charging Issues....
So it seems that my iPhone 3g refuses to charge in my car. I have both iPod and Smartphone intergration, but I haven't gotten the iPhone snap in cradle yet. After searching the forums and seeing the possibility of there being new cables out in September, I took a ride up to BMW Parts and Service in Port Chester. The SA there told me that there were issues with some iPhones and not others, but that there was a way to "revert" to older versions of the iPhone OS that would make charging possible.
I have no issues with accessing music or anything like that and the bluetooth works well, it's just charging thats an issue at this point. In any case, here is the SB he printed out and gave to me. |

If you are into modding, I bet it would be fairly trivial to find the charging pins in the 3GS dock connector, and modify the Y connector.

My iPhone 3G charges and everything works fine. I have an 09 1er. But I also have the 6NF smartphone option and the snapin adaptor.
Occasionally I have the problem that music won't play which, according to the dealer, is a result of the iPhone OS update. But restarting the phone seems to fix that every time.

I do have issues charging my 3gs with the cable, although it does work maybe 1/5 tries. Weird. Would love to know of a permanent fix.

I have 6nf and 6fl. I haven't gotten the snap in adapter yet, but restoring my ipod seems to have done the trick. Maybe someone who can't charge their phone can try that and let us know how it works out.

I've given up on fiddling with my iPhone in the car. I dug out an older iPod Nano I had lying around, loaded it with music and I leave it hooked up in the car all the time. Until I get the smartphone cradle to compliment my 6nf option, that is my official fix. Incoming calls still pause the music, so I consider this an improvement over my 3er with the old iDrive.

sounds good. going to check out craigslist. I actually had done this in the past(bought a used 30gig ipod classic to permanently reside in the car but ended up being talked into giving it to someone else). thx for reminding me of an easy solution.

flash drive sounds good. now is there any way to organize the mp3's ie. putting them in Playlist or Band folders or does it not work like that.
or by some miraculous reason does it organize them for you |
