304 km/h 135i video

Anyone see this on Jalopnik:

-------------
http://jalopnik.com/5907879/high-spe...r-the-autobahn

While a video of a modified BMW 135i chasing down a Porsche 997 Turbo at speeds in excess of 175 mph ( edit 304.4 kph = 187.9 mph!) on a public roadway would be cause for condemnation and legal action in this country, it's business as usual on one of the unrestricted sections of the German Autobahn.

According to GTspirit, where we found this video, this footage of a 400 horsepower BMW doing its best to keep up with a turbo P-car was taken on a speed limitless section of the highway near the Nürburgring.

I wouldn't call it "business as usual", but it's not "unusual" either.

Yes, I watched the video and they do not seem to be breaking any laws nor driving particularly aggressively - just fast of course.

Days like these, I miss Germany

Those are some titanium balls that driver has. That slight swerving at that speed makes anybody nervous.

Man that hood looks like it's gonna fly off. But that's normal on our 1ers I guess..

That's the first thing I thought. People here are assholes. They don't have the courtesy to take 20 seconds to move over one lane and then move back.

Driver counts higher and higher at the end but the speedo gets slower?

Nice video find! Yes, that is just the way (fast) Germans drive! Everyone yields and looks in their mirrors - something that US drivers would never do. Then again most Americans would not pay $2K for a driver's license and need to take 45 plus hours of drivers ED!

The fastest I have ever gone in my tuned 135i was 283 kph acording to my GPS and that was at 6,300 rpms with my 6MT. I know "a few times" I have seen 6,400 rpms or maybe 6,500 rpms - but I was way to busy looking at traffic to look over at my GPS (corrected) speed.

My German tuner has told me that for a 135i anywhere from 290 to 297 is possible. In the video those guys where going down hill... so you can pickup a few kph. Btw... my German tuner has a 335i that has done 314 kph! The 135i starts to hot a brick wall at 275ish kph. You can see it in the video when they are going 280 kph up that mountain and the speed is steady even though he is WOT. The car doesn't start to go faster until the road goes down hill.

so what's the fastest recorded speed for a 135i. this one has to be right up there at 187mph.

I'm the guy that was on the passenger seat and put the video on Youtube... didn't think the video would become that popular.

Anyway, the GPS data lags a little behind the video... this is all made with an iPhone, so it's not THAT accurate i guess.
