Bluetooth Microphone?
Just wondering if convertible owners can do me a favour.
On the light console near the rear view mirror is there supposed to be a microphone grill? I have noticed that my X5 has one and the call quality on both ends is excellent. However in the 1er I find that people find it hard to hear me as well as myself finding it hard to hear others. I keep turning the volume up during a phone call but this does not do anything, the sound is still quiet and almost muffled. Mine has no grill just a plastic blank where it looks like it should be. |

I read somewhere that the mic position in the vert is in the dash near steering wheel but I haven't checked that out personally but did note it is not in the overhead light panel like the coupe.

Is there any way the microphone volume can be turned up? When I make calls in my coupe the other person says I sound very distant and it's hard to hear me despite me talking quite loud.

I have the same issue in my coupe, people always say I sound distant. It is frustrating.

Same issue with my hatch. I have to talk pretty loud to be head, the mic looks to be in the overhead lighting cluster. The M3 has 2 the mics on boh clusters and it always seems to be clearer.

I wonder if it is as simple as just replacing the mic, if one can find it in the vert. The M3 and X5 system is just so much clearer, often the person I am on the phone to does not realise I am in the car.
The 1er system is a big let down for me as I do take a lot of calls whilst in the car. |

I just checked with my wife. She says that the call quality is fine when I call her from the car (live the voice activation!), and I speak at a normal conversational volume.

The quality of my calls varied. If I used the blackberry it was better then the iphone and the 3Gs was better than the 3G. It seemed to be related to the phone I used.
