Does your 135i talk to you?

Well, this has been going on since I got my car new in 2008, but I just heard it talking to me while browsing 1Addicts, so figured I'd ask the gurus:

Anyone know what causes this noise? Video at , you can hear it at the 5-6 sec mark and again at the 12-13 sec mark. Just goes on and on and on and on. Been home for over an hour and it's still doing it.

Simon....

I think your car is possessed. I have not heard that before. I would suggest changing your washing procedure to include holy water and if sound persists..see your priest immediately!!

Seriously though, the only sounds I used to hear were cooling fans or (in the car) the sat nav disk spinning. The M3 on the other hand hisses like a cut snake when I stop as water from the A/C condenser drips onto the exhaust manifold - must get that looked at as it only started after they replaced the idle control valve.

Thanks amk, will mention it tomorrow when I go in for the dead LED assembly. I wonder how much AC will charge me for the Holy Water?

It's now 9:30pm here and it's stopped.

That's one way to describe it, character. Just as well it's not a 4WD and I'm sleeping next to it out in the boondocks :-). Yeah, well I've put up with it for 18 months, so...

I have noticed that sound too. Usually when I am washing it in the evening, having driven it not too long before.

My assumption was that it was the electric water pump periodically activating to keep moving water through the turbo as it cools down.

Just as long as you don't start talking back to your car, I think you're fine.

+1 to the water pump operation, somewhere in the manual it says the car will make noises just after driving.

I'm never close enough to the car to be able to hear it even if it WAS making that noise. Maybe I should hang around a bit just to see.

My car makes strange noises quite often when sitting still, there is probably 3 different in all, but not like this one.

Played it for one of the mechanics today at my dealer, he was bemused - to say the least. One for next time...

Every time I get into my car it says "Hallo Bimmerle, wie geht's Dir. Mensch, Du siehst ja gut aus!" I should also mention that the voice stops if I wear a hat made of alfoil.

Haha, yes guys, take the piss - I'd laugh too if I hadn't posted the goods (the video with the audio evidence). That said, I do admit it's pretty weird. Maybe my Beemer is possessed after all.

Mine has an unusual noise when idling.

It sounds like a noise similar to the school recess bell (whoop whoop sound).. it's very faint, can be heard from the cabin. Have to have all the accessories off... annoying when you sit at the lights and you think that you are going mad.

Sorry Sparoz, didn't know you were mystified! Yes, the beep at around 3 or 4 seconds and then again around 12.
