Anyone care to kick this off with specs and pics?

My staggered winter setup just arrived this week.

VMR VB3 19x8.5 (ET40) with Blizzak LM-60 235/35/19 (Front)
VMR VB3 19x9.5 (ET22) with Blizzak LM-60 255/35/19 (Rear)

I plan on using 15mm spacers on the front to approximate the OEM wheel offset.

Now I just need my car to hurry up and get here!

Nice wheels but VMR wheels for the winter is not a smart choice given that they are gravity cast...

Forgive me asking: cast is bad because it is heavier than other production methods, or ...? And is heavy particularly bad in winter? If so how can I understand that?

What would you rather recommend?

Gravity cast is bad because it is the weakest type of casting. IE the most brittle.

Those symptoms get exacerbated in cold weather.


You should be looking at something thats either pressure cast or shot peened.

I wasn't aware of that, but to be honest I'm not overly concerned as I don't plan on driving the 1M a lot during winter. Just an occasional drive on weekends. Keeping the 335xi for daily driving (which I think also has gravity cast winter wheels). Will report back if I encounter any problems with this setup.
