Re:
M34, dude I'm having the same exact problem. I bought a used 2010 135i with 29k on it, the day I drove it home from the dealership my brakes squeaked constantly under light braking. I've been all over many forums, tried all types of solutions and nothing has worked. Granted, I've only been driving the car for 3 weeks, but I've had zero luck remedying the issue.
Talking the dealers is a joke, I'm 0 for 3 on that. Each says the same thing, "this car is known to have squeaky brakes, we won't replace or alter them under your warranty". Sounds like your having the same problem I am: A load of people with experience in this issue and solutions that have worked for them....but not for you. SUCKS. All I can say is wtf, keep me posted if you find a solution. I'll do the same. It's awful driving a car you’re in love with the look/drivability of but completely embarrassed when you come to a stop in public. |

Mine was the same... senors were touching and the pads were worn below normal and the sensors were not reading and the car showed the brakes were not due... dealership replaced everything under warranty. either find a new dealership or refuse to pick up your car and call BMW corporate about it...you paid good money for the car...

1911A145, in your case, it sounds like your pads were actually worn. Mine aren't worn, and so the dealer will not replace them. I am hopeful a 1addict member will recommend some non-squeaky pads for me.

Does anybody know if this cover by maintenace warranty or by the New Vehicle/SAV Limited Warranty: This warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship for the first four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first, so you can rest assured your BMW will perform as expected.
Thanks in advance, J |

By "this" I am assuming you are referring to squeaky brakes. As we have said above, BMW does not cover squeaks unless the brakes are defective.

I'm having this issue also. My car currently has 14,800 miles on it and they started to squeal consistant since 9,000 miles. I brought the car in for service and they told me that's normal during the cold winter days. It would go away once it warmed up and yet it has not gone away. They also had told me to try and press the brake pedal firmly and hard (while now one is behind me) and that helped for like 100 miles and just came back. I'm almost fed up with the car. I have a 33 year old car with the original rotors and 10 year old pads and never squeal anything like this car. My $24K SRT4 never had brake squealing. This car sounds so horrible when I pull up to red lights and makes the car sound cheap imo.
Is there anyone that you can report this to and complain if the dealer won't correct this on the car? I mean I'm leasing this car and it's been such a headache to own. I want to literally go and trade the car back in and get a Honda Civic.

M34 what's the status update on your brakes? I ask because I just had my front brakes/rotors replaced as they were due for normal scheduled replacement. FYI - the rear's weren't the issue, only fronts were squeaky. I've driven about 150 miles so far with no squeaks at all, I'm hopefull that this continues. We'll see.

My brakes were squealing too @ 34K. Reviewed my service records, the brakes were never replaced. My SA said they could not reproduce the issue... but after some guidance, they reproduced the issue (light braking) and replaced the pads and sensors. So far, the noise is gone (fingers crossed)!

More squeaking brakes here!! I got 21k on my car now and they squeak all the time. They used to do it only when cold but now they do it all the time and it seems to be getting louder. I hate to make an appointment just for this but it seems based on post here that I'll have to in order to get it resolved.

My brakes are squeaking as well. I had one dealership check it out, and they did the "filing" that someone else in this thread mentioned. Still having the issue. I only hear it from the front, and kind of think its the driver's side, so I'm thinking it's the sensor?

My car goes in to have its final inspection before I have to purchase and extended warranty soon, and my brakes have also been squeaking since I bought it. I'm now at 19,000 miles and the problem persists. I'm going to ask them to take a look at the sensor when it goes in, the lady who helps me at my local BMW dealership has been more then helpful over the past few months so I'm sure they'd be happy too.
I'll post updates when I can. |
