Will four wheels fit in the e90's trunk?
I am currently considering a setup consisting of 18" summer wheels and tires and 17" winter wheels and tires for a 330xi.
I know this will cause me to be flamed, but I am sure there may be times where I will want to take the car to the dealer to swap the wheels off instead of doing it myself in the driveway. Will four wheels with tires mounted on them fit in the trunk? Or will I just have to suck it up and do the swap myself at home? |

I had to put 4 wheels in my car, they do fit, just not all in the trunk. 1 front and one rear fit in the back, the other two in my back seat. I put towels down in the back seat to make sure they didnt touch anything...

I was able to fit 2 wheels/tires in the trunk and folded the seats down and put the other 2 in the back seat. There was no need to put a wheel in the front seat.
I used TireTotes to carry the wheels (with tires mounted). The installer put plastic down, over the seat backs and trunk to be on the safe side. I think I put the smaller fronts in the trunk and the larger rear wheels in the back seat. I have the 18 inch sport package wheels and tires, which are quite heavy with tires mounted. The fronts were 56.5 lbs each and the rears were 59 lbs each.

Yea...you can't fit them all in the trunk and I am not a fan of putting them on the seats.
I used to have someone follow me - with my other 2 tires in their trunk (usually a family member) - it also gave me someone to talk to while they were balancing and changing the tires. |

Suck it up and do the swap yourself at home. I am sure its not a big deal to many but I am also sure it will make you happy, check the thread Noflash posted above.
Initially I was very hesitant to do it myself but went ahead did it with a little push from Noflash. Thanks again Noflash. This is the first time I changed all the wheels on a car and it certainly made me and my four year old son, who provided "assistance" by the way, get more connected to the car. Now he knows all about winter wheels and summer wheels and shares the information with his friends at school. It was fun and I have no problems so far. |

I had my dealer do my winter swap. The put the summer tyres in to heavy duty plastic bags (BMW OE white plastic specially for tyres). I can't remember how they loaded it up. I think it was 1 in the boot, and 3 on the back seat. Or it could have been 2 in the boot.
