That's nice but can you put that in layman's terms...

What do you mean by enough production slots?

This is a surprise. I read this a while back and it made it seem like there was plenty of demand or a 1m.

Yes, though one major downside is trying to replace one if it became totaled. Hopefully that won't happen to any US 1M, but seeing that other thread with the wrecked Alpine White 1M in Europe got me thinking about it.

Only problem is... SOP(start of production) for 1M''s started from Sept/2010(acording to RealOEM.com).

It will be interesting to see who has the last (EOP - end of production) US 1M and what date that car was made/built on.

Even though the quote came from the BMWNA M Manager the article title did indicate the 740 was the number for the US.

HOMOLOGATION?!?!?!

Damn, we ALMOST had a 1M Racing Series???

Seriously the OP needs to come in here and clarify why he used the term 'HOMOLOGATION'. Usually used in this context:

Porsche had to build xxxx GT3RS in order to homologate to the ___ racing series.
And
BMW had to build yyyy e30 M3's in order to homologate to the ___ racing series.

Sorry, not an industry veteran who understands why a high demand car wasn't given high production volume. Unless the margin on the car was waay low, which I have a hard time believing given the accelerated development time, and use of existing components.

Except for the Z1 and M1 figures, the rest are North America only. I should have clarified.

I thought BMW was going to continue production indefinitley? I guess rarity outweighs production volume. When is Lepzig going to tool up for the f30? (I take it the next 1 will be mainly built there)

VO was the most popular, then AW, then BS.

I can't remember where I read it but for Canada they built 223 1///M. The 740 figure is for US only.

Damn! If that # is correct, yet again Canada gets more exclusive M's that the US!
