Just bought an '08 128i

I got the other day a 2008 128i w/ 79K mi and manual trans. After driving an ES300, this thing feels absolutely incredible. I've driven stick before but this car is my first manual daily, it's been pretty good but I'm def looking into the CDV delete. Maybe the clutch stopper too.

N52, sport package, hifi radio, windows already tinted, & sunroof

Not too sure if I'm getting the maintenance records or not. The car's in great shape I don't doubt but I don't know if the water pump has been done yet . Non-RFT tires, the ride is firm but smooth at the same time.

Here it is! I gave it a wash/clay/wax and inspected the whole thing. The hood has a fair amount of swirls. Otherwise not bad at all for an 8 year old car!

Thank you! I didn't even realize there were different bumpers, but after looking them up I definitely have to agree!!

Just did the CDV delete. Didn't realize I would love the car even more!

Congratulations, great car, all the right stuff. You've just done one of the most satisfying mods. If you like to tinker with your cars there's a ton of stuff you can do to make them even better, but even left alone, a great fun ride.

Thanks guys, I feel so welcome here. Yeah it's mostly in great condition. Just a few things to sort out with the polisher

You can say that again! There's a million little bits and pieces to add/remove here and there for this car. I love all the opportunities to personalize it.

Congrats bud, my wife has one and it's the car we use most of the time, and it's amazingly smooth and drivable. Have fun, they're unreal.

Congrats on a great car. I have essentially the same car. Just did a 2338 mile road trip-loved every minute. Three days were over 11 hours in the seat and did not feel overly tired (and I'm a senior). I occasionally track the car but have never felt the need to delete the CDV. I do however have a BMW performance exhaust which I highly recommend. Learn to do simple maintenance yourself, ieil changes. Look thru www.bavauto.com especially their "blog" for many DIY's. And, I always also recommend joining BMWCCA.

+1 on the Performance exhaust, just did it a few months ago after 5 years of ownership, still kicking myself not to have done it sooner. Also what is your impression after the CDV delete, comtemplating getting it done but would like the fresh perspective of someone who did it on an older car with a clutch that has some wear already (mine has 55k miles)?

100% do the CDV delete. I'm learning manual on this car and no matter how much I got the rhythm of driving I would always stall once or twice at a stoplight during a trip - the clutch was just too inconsistent for learning. After I did the CDV delete i literally haven't stalled once. Also makes the 1-2 shift wayyyy smoother.

I definitely want the performance exhaust! Hopefully i can find one for under 700 : . And I'll be doing all the work to this myself! Just did the brake/clutch fluid (it was quite old and spongey) and the diff fluid (redline 75w-90) and the whole car seems smoother overall. Getting new spark plugs and some Redline MTL for the trans in the mail: those should really make a difference.

Thanks, I bought mine from Flemington (http://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/45...NTERID=2341801) for $650 plus $65 for shipment. Thye clutch has always bothered me, I should definitely do it.

Enjoy your car, it is that good that I keep not changing it, looked closely at several options (Mustang GT, M2, new MX5) but I keep loving driving the little thing, even after 6 years, just a lovely package. I think I will just keep it and buy a third car in 2 years.

Ooo thanks for the link!

Yeah I would recommend the CDV delete, plus the clutch stop if you already haven't. My stop is on its way and I can't wait lol. Once I did the delete I started really feeling the bite point and it was a bit higher up than I thought, so it leaves you with a decently sized deadzone.

Awesome to know that I really picked the right car, thank you. I don't blame you, being an enthusiast ya got that itch to drive all sorts of stuff, but there's just a straight-forwardness you get from the 1. No fuss.

Welcome to 1addicts. I think you'll like the car a lot. Regarding the performance exhaust. I placed an order for one today from http://www.bmw.sunmotorcars.com/. They have it in stock for $615 with shipping included.

Clutch stop ++. I like the Bavauto one with the washers.

Interesting you bring up the CDV and PE.

My wife's car came with the PE as well as a little device that remapped the throttle to make it more sensitive (can't remember what it was called), and as much as I loved the car, it was weird to drive.

Brought it home, found this little device at the pedal and removed it..... better, but the clutch engagement was still odd.

A little research later and the CDV was removed that night, soo.......... much better.... So much so that as soon as my 1M arrived, I got straight under there and did the same, huge difference.

But the PE on the 125i? neither of us liked it, didn't fit the car, and too loud for the real life pace of the car I felt. I went back to the dealer and picked up the stock muffler and sold the PE, and we both much preferred the sound strangely.

But do the CDV unquestionably.
