Apex Arc-8, Michelin PSS, and KW?
Hi guys. I just got my hyper black apex arc-8 wheels a week ago and plan to use Michelin PSS on all four corners. Below is the spec of my wheels and tires. Let me know what do you think.
Hyperblack Apex Arc-8 w/Michelin PSS 8.5x18 et38 225/40/18 9.5x18 et62 265/35/18 Beside that I plan to lower my car by .8" using KW Street Comfort. I saw one guys was running the exact setup and he's lowered on BMWP suspension and he didn't rub. Anyone know what's the lowered height of BMWP suspension? Will my setup rub? I saw many pictures of 8.5x18 et40 lowered on either ST or KW V1/V2 and using 225/40 Michelin PSS and didn't rub. Just for your information, ST and KW V1/V2 have minimum lowering height of 1", so KW street comfort is still safer. Please let me know what do you think. Any suggestion and advice will be very appreciated. Photos/pictures are welcome . Please help. Thanks guys!

Your tire width is very conservative for those wheels. I couldn't comment on how close you'll be to the KW struts, but I think all the aftermarket struts will have the same diameter as stock due to the knuckle design at least in the front. On the rear I also imagine you'll be fine as the fender liner is much closer to the tire than the struts. Even if the rear KW struts are much bigger the fact that you only have 265 rears will probably leave plenty of room. It's unlikely you'll find someone with your EXACT setup, but my guess would be you are fine by miles. I tend to think your are going to add a lot of understeer to the car with how much your tires are staggered.

This isn’t 100% apples to apples, but in the next 2 or 3 weeks I’ll be able to tell you if 225/265 S-Drives+ST Coils play nice. Same wheel and tire size as you, but PSS runs a good deal broader in profile than S-Drives, so you’ll be a bit tighter to the fenders. Currently I can tell you that you’ll want a small spacer up front or things will be VERY tight to the strut…It won’t rub, but it’s too close for comfort. I’m running 5mm spacers all around which I’m very happy with. Likely once I drop the car it’ll need a roll up front and some shaving in the back, there’s just no room in these cars even with high offsets. I’ll follow up once the coils are on, I had them on last summer (OEM 264 wheels though) but yanked them for the winter.

I'm running et38 up front and if I use 3mm or 5mm spacer isn't that make the tires closer to the fender? I mean many people are running 8.5x18 et45 235/40/18 Michelin PSS and rub the strut so they clear it using 3mm or 5mm spacer. With that being said, their et change from et45 to either et42 or et40 right?
I'm planning to run et38 so I don't think spacer would help. Maybe more negative setup needed. Any of you what is the height drop by BMW performance suspension? One guy is running exact setup with me and running performance suspension without any fender or camber mods. So if I know the drop I should be fine.

As for BMWPS height drop, "10mm when compared to the sport suspension" according to BMW. |

That's exactly what I would have bought CL. The et45 fronts are so close to the front that you might end up having to run spacers. You don't want to leave your struts as high as they go with no threads left because you might need to get a corner balance and change things a little. I'd probably run the nuts 6 or 8 revolutions from max height. Also go ahead and "pull the pins" to make sure you don't rub the front fender. If you don't then decide to later, you'd need to get another alignment. Good luck!

Sure thing about the alignment and camber. I will install the wheels and tires first and see how it fits. If there is still plenty of room I will drop it mildy and maybe get dinan plates if pulling the pins is not enough. Any idea if installing coils allow more negative camber? Thanks Eyeman. Very good advice!
