Raleigh/Durham/Triangle Area Folks!
Hey guys/gals,
I've seen a few other 1er's on the road and at the Cary Cars & Coffee meet. How many of us are there in the area? Is anyone interested in having a local meet? If anyone is interested, we're having a meet this coming Sunday (10/13) at noon at Jordan Lake. It will be a lot of the local evo crowd (I've owned three evo's in the past so I'm friends with most of the local evo crowd). Let me know if anyone wants to go. I'd like to meet some of the local folks. -Daniel |

I'm in Durham. I'm always down to make a small meet and grab a beer. I see a lot of good looking local eateries in Raleigh if a few of us want to set something up?

Hey NC folks. I'll be relocating to Camp Lejeune next year and am trying to research the area. I've already found the local SCCA chapter that runs autocrosses in Wilmington & Havelock, but was wondering if any of you folks could point me in the direction of a good performance-oriented indie BMW shop in the region.
Obviously, Camp Lejeune is a bit of a haul from Raleigh, but I sort of expect to have to drive a bit to find a good shop. I've found some info about a place called National Speed in Wilmington - not a BMW shop, but sort of a general speed shop - any opinions? Or suggestions for similar-ish places? Thanks for any input!

Hello to all -
Thought I'd finally post in this section. I'm in Raleigh. And yes - Rush Hour Karting is a blast. FYI - Korman Autoworks in Greensboro is one of the most storied and respected BMW race prep, restoration, and repair shops in the world. I had them install my Quaife LSD that VAC Motorsports built. Superb service and attention to detail. A few months ago Korman had a spectacularly restored 2002 and a low mileage tastefully upgraded E36 328is for sale… plus a bunch of pre-90's BMWs undergoing restoration back in the shop. I'm fairly old school - "all motor", manual transmission, cheep spec, keep it light and simple. I learned to drive in 1976 at the age of 12 in my dad's orange 1971 Datsun 510. I still dream about that car. This is my "life list" of cars I've owned over the years: '84 RX-7 GSL-SE '85.5 944 '88 Mustang LX 5.0 (motor upgrades) '89 Toyota MR2 (autocross suspension set up) '90 Civic Si '94 Integra GS-R '00 A4 Quattro 2.8 Sport '04 RX-8 Current: '08 Odyssey EX AT (work/family) '12 Genesis 3.8 AT (wife's) '11 128i
