MPSS vs Federal 595RSR

Does anyone have real world experience with both the MPSS and Federal 595RSR tires?

I am looking for a comparison of the section width between the two. I am about to install some coilovers and am trying to confirm if I'm going to need shorter springs to avoid any clearance issues.

The size I'm using is 225/40/18

The info for both tires say they have a section width of 9.1 inches but sometimes the specs aren't always what the tire mfg say they are in the real world.

Let me know if you have any comparison between the two.

I decided to give the Federal RSRR’s a try last month. They performed great on dry surface and the price makes them even better. MPSS better on wet tho. When ordering the RSRR’s I was worried that most people say they run 5mm wide but they were pretty close to size.

Wider or narrower vs the MPSS?

As you mentioned, the MPSS 225/40/18 has a section width of 9.1 inches or 231mm. The Federal RSRR 225/40/18 has a section width of 8.86 inches or 225mm. According to the posted stats, the MPSS are wider. But as I said previously, most people say that Federal’s run approx 5mm wider than posted which brings it in line with the MPSS.

I hope this helps!
