Flash Drive as audio source...

I don't have my 135i yet (this Saturday!) but would I be able to use a Flash Drive to put my music on and navigate through the folders with the headunit controls or steering wheel controls? Or is an iPod the only way to truly have control of a third-party music source through the actual headunit/steering wheel? I have a ton of flash drives sitting around and it would save me the cost of buying an iPod (hate them with a passion... love Cowon players!)

I'm using a usb flash drive and it works perfectly. As far as I'm aware it's no different than using your ipod. I plan on getting a 32gb flash drive like the one ad78 is using! Much cheaper!

$59.99 free shipping no tax for a 32GB flash drive. I missed out on that deal I saw on techbargains where they had one for $39.99... oh well, ya snooze ya lose...

Thanks but unfortunately they do not ship internationally. I enquired about a 16gb usb flash and they are $99 in an electronics store (but they can discount down to AU$80) and they are predicting the 32gb will fetch at least $200 when they arrive. So expensive!!!

can you still see file names and folder listings on the HUD of the non-premium headunit? The 1-series brochure makes it sound like this isn't possible unless it's a premium headunit.
