Brake fluid for track work

Just after an opinion from those that track their vehicles.
Do you believe that the OEM brake fluid in a 1M with trackable pads can handle a day at Phillip Island (5-6 lap sessions)? Or would you change to something like motul 600?
Thanks

Not familiar with that track but I've had problems with oem fluid at the track. RBF600 is my standard choice. It's in all of my cars.

I've done PI with stock fluid. It's not particularly hard on brakes, but you will get fade by lap 3 or 4 in each session. To me it felt as though the pads were the limiting component rather than the fluid.

See how you go. If you are planning regular track work you should upgrade pads (I use Endless ME20) and fluid (like rbf 600) in addition to changing to braided brake lines.

I can recommend Race Brakes in Yarraville.

Phillip Island is a flowing circuit, and thus less stressful on brakes.

Turn 4 (Honda) requires effort eg 180km/h to 60km/h.
Turn 10 (MG) requires effort eg 120km/h downhill to 60km/h.

Of course, demands upon brakes are determined by driver confidence and experience. Anything beyond novice attendance would better be served by upgraded consumables (boiling 312oC). Otherwise stock (boiling 230oC) may be sufficent.

Rohan posted an interesting photo in the other thread - all these fluids will boil (since we are probably running around 200-600oC), so we still bleed brake lines of air.

Sounds like you have already discarded OEM brake pads, which is advisable. (You can check these forums for the many reports of persistent brake vibration, particularly following track days.)

Thanks for your responses. I guess I'll just change to the motul and flush it every 12 months or after a couple of hard track days.
The braided lines sounds like a good idea as well. Custom made or off-the-shelf?

Custom. Any performance brake place can do this for you.

I use AP Racing 5.1 as it is still approved for the street.
Rotors see over 300c+ and i have had no issues with boiling or fade with the DS2500 pads at both SMP and wakefield.

I ordered off the shelf Goodridge braided lines from Brakes4u.co.uk and they came with ADR compliance. It is check box on the product selection page.

I use Castrol SRF, pricey but works flawlessy. It's wet boiling point is higher than a lot of other fluid's dry boiling point.

+1 and it lasts 12 months at least as it doesn't absorb moisture. Just for a fraction of cost of a track day really.
