Paint thinner? Are you kidding? What's that stuff on your car that they spray on it at the factory? IT's PAINT! No No No!!

GASOLINE? Are you nuts? What the hell are you doing with the rags when you're done with them? Gasoline is NOT an all purpose cleaner. It belongs inside your internal combustible engine - NOT the outside of your car, your hands, or rags!

Get the stupid tar cleaner and use it according to directions! And as others have said, keep your car clean and waxed and the buildup of tar & crud will come off much more easily. ALWAYS wash the finish after using, and give it a fresh coat of wax where you applied the tar cleaner.
