clear coat

Found out first hand how soft clear coat is on these cars, moved outside to do some repairs to my garage and bird craped on it. Took an hour to gently remove until it couldn't be seen without really looking hard. Has anyone tried the new super coatings/wax? Have expel on other cars and like it- so will probably have front and other areas done=but figured something else to protect other areas would be a smart bet.

Not sure if its the clearcoat but i notice this as well. Bird poop etches the paint if it's sunny outside, I use a fine cut cleaner from meguiars to remove the stain. I've seen this happen on many makes and models.

I've never seen clear coat etched this easily on any car. Was looking for opinions on ceramic coatings, did search but that doesn't work that well. Going to get it done regardless and will see how it works along with some film.

If anyone has used the ceramic coatings please chime in with referral-opinion. Having done, not interested in self applied.

Don't try to do the ceramic coatings yourself, that shit is painful to work with, you'll spend a whole day on the project. I haven't done it to my car yet but I plan to get mine done since I've seen a few friends cars with it and I'm impressed with the results. You need to be careful washing it (touchless ideally) but it will last well over a year.

Got it on the CLS550. Wasn't cheap, but 100% worth it. Absolutely nothing adheres to the paint, a full exterior wash takes less than an hour and the depth of the black finish is like nothing I've ever seen. 100% recommended, cannot wait to get it done to my 135i.
