16 inch wheels on a 128i

I didn't think it would fit but it did. The wheel cleared the calliper by a millimetre. Is there any risk to running these for the winter or should I have more clearance? ( it's tight in there, not rubbing but VERY close.)

I'm running 205/55/16 winters on steelies straight from the dealer when I bought the car. No issues, it's their recommended 16 inch size. Not the greatest looking, but it's winter...

128i convertibles without the Sport Package came stock with 16" wheels (at least in the US), so you should be fine, as long as your not running the Performance brake kit. I assume that you're not, as I don't think the wheels would clear at all.

This one has the sport package and came stock with 17" wheels. Does the performance brake kit have a calliper with multiple Pistons?

[edit] it looks like the performance brakes have 6 piston callipers. Mine do not.

Yes the Performance calipers are identical to the 135i 6-piston calipers, but painted in Phoenix Yellow. You can't miss 'em.

Yay! Glad 16s will fit. I just snagged some E46 16" rims for the winter. Can't wait to put them on.
