Would you change a VW GTI DSG 06 with a SERIE 1 Coupe 123d aut. //M?

Hi 1Addicts, I´m new in this forum and I send you greetings from Spain.
Well, the thing is that I need advice, I´m in a good "economic" moment and I was thinking in changing my GTI with a new Serie 1 Coupe aut. 123d.

What do you think?

My car

[/B]

The BMW
It´s not the 123d but the only thing that would be different from the car in the photos would be that the rims would hace double spoke

Price of GTI:30.500€
Price of Serie 1 Coupe:44.000€ (it has almost everything)

- I make 50.000 km. per year
- Serie 3 would be too big for me

Well, I´m anxious to read your opinion

Which color? Red or white?

Which leather depending which color?

I was thinking white with red leather but I don´t know if it will bother me

Probably not. One of the things that is luring me from my 07 GTI is the engine in the 135i. That is one of the only reasons that I am trading up. Don't get me wrong, the 1 series are beautiful cars, but not beautiful enough without the engine to warrant me trading in my car. I hate diesels too, so this is a no-brainer for me!!

By the way, I love the look of your car! You guys are so lucky that you can get the 4-motion GTI out there! I say keep it!!

If you drive 50k km per year, then you should be making a pretty healthy saving on your fuel costs for a start. Economy should be considerably better, and isn't diesel cheaper than petrol on mainland Europe anyway.

I can't see the pics for some reason, but I'd definitely upgrade to the M 5 double spoke wheels from the 135

I'd keep the GTI over a 123d.

Me gustaba el MK5 GTI, mi novia va a comprar un 2008 GTI y ella fue pensando a comprar un BMW 128 tambien, pero nos gusta el GTI mejor que el BMW 128.

Para mi, el orden es;
1. BMW 135
2. VW GTI MK5 (tenia un 2007 VW GTI)
3. BMW 123 o 128

That's a tough one because they will drive so differently. I traded in my brand new 2008 GTI with the latest '08 FSI engine, DSG with the new '08 launch control feature. What a screamer the '08 GTI really is!!

That said, I love my 135i even more than that GTI. My Carrera S is parked for a while, as I'm having too much fun with the 1er. But, in reality the 997 Carrera S will seriously spank the 135i... but, then again that's the way it should be.

The diesel 1-Series is a fantastic car. If you are willing to give up some performance, get the 1-Series. That's the bottom line.

Have you driven the 1er? You will know the answer to your own question after driving both, back-to-back.

I'd seriously lean towards the 123d. It's a genuine long-term keeper!

If you totally loved your GTI, you wouldn't even be asking the question. Think about that.

123d... awesome car! What's not to like?

I know they are totally different cars, but I think I wouldn´t lose performance. The GTI is really fast, nobody won´t disagree with that...but when I drove the 1er I liked it, I don´t know how to explain it, the rear-wheel drive is really amazing (is the first time I drive a rear-wheel)...

Another thing is that after a lot of effort and work getting my GTI "tuned", Í test the 123d...ufff

50,000k per year! That's a lot of driving.

I'd go the 1er diesel. Will perform well, and be cheaper on the fuel by a big margin.

Don't want to sound like like a goddam tree huggin' hippie, but lower emissions for the environment, if you want to consider that as well.

Get the 123d, you'll get same torque as 135i and 204hp with a 5 litre consumption in a 100km.

If you can afford it, why not? but still, I'd say keep the car for a bit longer, since it's 2006. The GTI is a great car. You can always save the $ and spend it later.

Your GTI is still pretty new. The 1 Series will only get better with time. Unless you need to change or you are really bored/unhappy with the GTI, I'd wait. I love the 1er, and the 123d is a really nice variant, especially with the M sport pack, but you're already driving a pretty fun car.

I can't exactly read what this says... but I think I get the point.

135 > GTI > 123 o 128

...but if you already have the GTI, you might as well stick with a car that has one of the best trannys in the world.

Hey, my name is Nacho and my wife has a 2008 GTI. We love it. It is a great, fun car. We have two kids in car seats so the the GTI is better for that. There is a lot of room in the back seat. I terms of performance, the 135 is much better but in terms of fun, because the GTI cost of ownership is so good, I would just keep your GTI. I think the GTI cool looking. It's not an Aston Martin DB9 but it looks cool and has a nice paint finish and wonderful seats. I don't quite like the look of the 1 series; or, actually any of the Bangle cars. If you had to buy a BMW the 1 series is the best looking for sure but I would keep the GTI. Good luck.
