STOLEN BLACK 182's!!!! Locking lug nuts??
Only two months and my 182's were jacked last night . I left my apartment building to find my car sitting on cinder blocks. I'm worried that some damage was done to the undercarriage with the cinder blocks.
If you don't mind, be on the look out for black 182 rims with the stock Bridgestone Potenza tires mounted on them. The tires have about 14k miles on them. I doubt I'll get them back but I'm sure they'll show up on craigslist or ebay. I made the mistake of not having locking lug nuts. Can anyone recommend some locking lug nuts? Thanks. |

insurance should cover it, they will likely pay what the stockers cost, since the stockers are fairly expensive, you should make out ok out of this, still sucks ass
def keep a look out on craigslist and ebay |

Were your brake rotors sitting on the ground like this guy's car?
The other side had a car jack under it: http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/8284/rearleft.jpg I hope you find them dude. Dont forget the TPMS when you call your insurance company, those alone are a pretty penny. |

I lucked out better than this guy. At least the thieves showed me the courtesy of using 4 cinder blocks that were placed underneath the frame so all four rotors are above the ground. What was surprising though, and I don't know if all BMW's are like this (this is my first one), but the actual posts that the wheel sits on and the lug nuts screw into were also gone. I have a winter set of wheels and tires but I can't even put them on without the posts and the lug nuts.
Would locking lug nuts have prevented this at all? |

Bimmers (and lots of german cars) have lug "bolts" not nuts... so yeah its normal to not have studs because they were technically not there to begin with.
Sorry to hear about your wheels. |

Yeah they were obviously looking for specific wheels since they weren't some kind of crazy aftermarket 22" chromies, etc. There can't be that many different OEM keys... the thieves were probably just driving around with a kit. *shrug* |

They don't even need a kit. An "easy off" will pull most of them off in a matter of seconds. http://www.awdirect.com/easy-off-met...GL&EPC=AWSEFGL |

Unfortunately for us Bimmer owners, my old Subaru made it easy to aid in the prevention of stolen wheels. Like most Japanese cars, the studs were in the wheel assembly, so I was free to use some different wheel locks and lugs on each wheel. Yes, it was incredibly annoying when it came time to change out a wheel having 2 different kinds of wheel locks/lugs on each wheel, but dammit they were never stolen.
The keys, however, did come up missing right before it was time to sell it. I think I already know who the culprits were too. |

No car alarm or won't this sort of criminal activity set off the OEM alarms tilt sensor?
It's so frustrating that this sort of thing goes on. Back in the days of horses if someone messed with your ride you shot them. How frequently something takes place is usualy directly related to the penalties if you get caught. Today it's a slap on the wrist. So today it's a common occurance.

Do they sell stud type? I took a quick look and didn't see any, only the nuts. Are you putting studs in the car and then using these? |

They do sell stud type, but I'm not sure if they have 135 specific.
Actually, yes: http://www.mcgard.com/Applications/A...59oK1ZwQ%3d%3d edit: I have not put locks on my 1er yet. But on other cars I have used them. My old ('80) RX-7 had the studs... edit again: Just checked the link I posted. It reverts back to the main page. You'll have to click bmw/1series to see the products

I also saw these wheel locks sold by BMW:
http://stores.channeladvisor.com/uni...135%20(2008%2b) They look a little similar to the McGard locks (in terms of the key required). |

I bought wheel locks straight from BMW.
$40. When I got them on cause I was to lazy to put them on myself the guy said it was a waste of time they just steal the whole car. If I can make someones job tougher I will. Sorry about your loss, hope you get a huge pay out and a low preimum. |
