Car & Driver Article - 335

The pictures from the article were posted a while back but I haven't seen the full article so here it is courtesy of mocmylov from bimmerfest.

One really interesting thing from the article that I hadn't heard was official (unless I missed it) is that the coupe will have 3 models: 325 (215 hp), 330 (255 hp), and 335 (304 hp, bi-turbo). Apparently the 330 and 335 will come out this summer with the 325 following later. Has this info been confirmed?

Wow! I think it looks gorgeous. I've told myself that I won't trade in my 06 330i until the M3 comes out but the 335 will be tempting.

It looks soooo nice in those pics.

I hope they're right about the coupe only being a "couple grand" over the equivalent sedan.... from what I've read the coupe seems like it's going to be placed quite a bit more upmarket.

The article states of the photos that “after perusing several spy shots, we’ve created these lifelike illustrations of the top-of-the-range 335i.” So these are just educated guesses put through Photoshop. The spy shots we have seen confirm many of the features in the photos. But these photos are still not of a real uncovered car.

Well if you've been to that thread then you know I've been posting all over it. I totally understand how you feel. Still, even if there is an si version coming out, there's no way it's going to cost anywhere near $40k. I'd say it will start around where the e46 M3 starts, around $48k. No way I pay all that money for a NON-///M.

I'm hoping the 335i turbo starts at $40 and goes from there. I'll take that and love it.

The front looks fantastic. Bangle is obviously being told to calm down Not too sure about the rear, though: it reminds me of a Saab.

Actually, it's taken almost directly from the 7:

I think this is the first set of photos that I actually like! It is either growing on me or it's the wheels. When this puppy comes out it is gonna be even harder for me to wait it out for the M3. Maybe it's best if I don't even go look at it........yeah.....like that will happen.

yeah! I agree, it does kinda grow in you, after awhile.

However, its will always coming up short to a M3/E9 whenever it comes out.

Id wait until the M3 comes out, then I'll decide.

Im still for an M3/E90, its just a matter of price feasability
if not I'd just grab an E46/M3 w/ falling prices.

No doubt it will not compare to the new ///M. My problem is impatience and the fact that I have an addiction to new cars! What will probably happen...the coupe will be released and there will be a year wait for the new M3. So I will end up buying the coupe only to sell it when the M comes out. Yeah...I have a problem...it just seems to be a problem I like!

So, it seems that this mythic, now real, 335 is not a replacement for the 330, but an additional model.
I'll bet the same holds true for the sedans as well.
It just didn't/doesn't make sense that BMW will revamp the 325 and 330 so soon after introducing the cars. Afterall, they have only been here for 1 year.

Seems we'll have 3 sedan choices; 325i, 330i, and 335i (performance model), and the coupes will too.

And judging from their claim that the new turbo engine uses the magnesium-and-aluminum engine block from the N52, a falsehood that any asshat who can read a press release can tell you is incorrect, I wouldn't neccessarily put too much faith in ANYTHING that C&D says. They botched up similarly in some article about the E90 before it came out.

I just posted my opinion on C&D's credibility as far as future models are concerned.
