I would like to see an LED tail light upgrade, ala the E46 mid-cycle refresh.. with a set similar to what the new 6-series has.

Not a hope in hell:

Radio display that you can see with polarized sunglasses, and a retro-fit to the '08 models.

LSD as standard. Quad Exhaust. 400Bhp from larger turbos. Sport mode button. Better dampeners/coilovers as standard. Carbon fibre shell.

I don't ask for much...

If BMW doesn't design a 1-series that is sexier than an E-type, weighs the same as a Miata, can out-accelerate a Bugatti Veyron, out-track a GT3 RS and costs less than $25,000 then it has truly failed us all.

Here's my wish list:

-lighter curb weight
-double-clutch transmission
-option for a "true" sport suspension
-two-tone leather seats (and colored stitching, of course)
-more reliable! (HPFP redesign, taillights that dont crack/fall off, etc.)

the rest is all small stuff:

-higher-quality interior components (dash, etc)
-ability to opt out of shadowline trim for sport packages
-option for non-runflats
-bluetooth feature independent of Assist
-better audio options

Double clutch probably wont come until next gen..
2 tone sports seats would be a super addition..
deletion of run-flats, everyone seem to hate them.
iphone adapter should come at a cheaper price.

Sorry for playing with you but that's hilarious, quiet frankly any AWD BMW is a Joke!
A properly done AWD is no joke.
AWD is not just for area's with bad weather.
A good system offers a lot of good traction and handling benefits.
It's just that BMW's system actually ruins their overall performance.

BTW, in the Chicago area you DON'T need snow tires. High performance all seasons are the best compromise. Snow doesn't sit on our roads that long, so we don't need dedicated snow tires, though most people disagree with me. I prefer the better and quieter performance that performance all season tires give in cold temps on damp winter road conditions around here. Snow tires are much better in snow, but once the roads are clear they don't perform as well, are louder, and decrease mpg.
Just not worth it around here for the occasional heavy snow fall.
In those conditions, slow down, and KNOW how to drive RWD in the snow.
I grew up and learned to drive in the days when all we had was RWD and lackluster all season tires. We've come a long way since in tire tech in both winter and all season tires.

I know that. What I was getting at was that I do not think BMW will offer the DCT in the 1 series because there is such a great MT and even a decent automatic for those who want it. I don't think there would be a demand to even offer the DCT.

I don't know that that is true, but I can only speculate.
I'm a confirmed manual trans driver. Yes, the newer automatics are quite nice and quite quick to respond, but there is still a "feel" to a slushbox that doesn't appeal to me.

Now, a DCT would interest very much. I loved Audi/VW dual clutch when I drove the GTI and the A3. Even though it can work in "auto" mode, there is still that distinct manual shift feel, because it is a manual trans with a clutch that is simply clutched automatically. So the feel is different than a slushbox. In manual mode it's a lot of fun to use and it does feel more engaging than a slush auto trans, due to it's excellent rev matching, burble overrun on gear changes, instant shift, launch control, etc...

Is there any basis to the 7-speed DCT rumor? I agree, it would be great, but is there a real chance of this happening?

Or should I just buy now off the lot?
