Should have brought it to dealers attention first.

not being under warranty has its upsides. it's a liberating feeling knowing i won't have to disconnect my entire meth kit in the trunk.

Thats why with that type of attitude you will get nothing. If they had seen it you would of had some kind of record.

So you're saying you knew that the Positive connector could fail over time so you went to an Indy and had them replace the positive terminal and they charged you $1000?

Really no reason to have the dealer ever do anything... They cost twice as much.

Long story short BMW screwed me over.
You should surely make a claim for a refund of the repair.

..they do rape... but if you go for an oil change and ask to check for recalls / SIB's you can get things covered

Then I guess you would buy a new car and have the INDY SHOP do your repairs and you would pay them while your car is under warranty.

Im saying that it DID FAIL and i had to buy a new fuse box, battery cable plus pay for install... If they refuse to reinburse me we will definately have to go to court... Car shorted on me on the highway twice but came right back on... Then finally there was no power to the vehicle what so ever and i had to get it towed out my driveway

Don't we have to wait for a letter or something from BMW before they will perform the recall repair?

...you don't take it to the dealer to save money but you'll hire a lawyer to sue them for not covering something you did at an independent shop ?

Thanks for posting this info! Guys I merged the two threads into this one, so we can collect all the recall info in one place.

Mohammed - is your car a US spec car? Maybe you could write a letter to BMW NA if it is. Its worth a shot.

Even though we know this recall effects most 1er's up to 2012 M.Y.... the recall is only for US cars. SO that means anyone who lives outside the USA is also screwed - no recall for them. Even though its a safe bet those cars are effected too.

No. So long as the TSB is in their system.

for anyone in a similar situation as myself...

i bought my 08 135 from carsense, but have had it serviced at a local dealer.. called the bmw dealership i go to and they said they will contact me in march when they start calling them in for the fix. i assume it will be the same elsewhere, but be sure to contact your dealer to verify!

Why is everyone getting all worked up? Dude had something fail, was out of warranty, had it fixed. Now BMW is acknowledging it as an issue and recalling cars. So dude should be reimbursed, at least for the parts that would be replaced under the recall, assuming he kept his documentation. In a reasonable world it might require a couple phone calls and maybe a fax or two, no need for lawyers at all. Had he not had his car fixed BMW would be on the hook to reimburse his local dealer to replace those parts so it's not like he's shafting them.
