Why I am pissed off

So my car went into service on monday inorder get its top adjusted. That day they found a broken part and ordered a new part.

On tuesday the part arrived and they took the top off of my car inorder to change the broken part. They then convieniently found two more broken pieces. They immediatly ordered the parts.

Today at about 530 I picked up the car and put the top down, it was all good. I pulled into my driveway and began to put up the top. My top sounded like a rockslide when it was going up and jerked while it sounded like hell.

So its going back in the morning and Hassel is getting a big WTF thrown at them.

Ohh yeah I forgot to mention...they refuse to give me a loaner.

Sorry about the rant...Im just really pissed that I will not have my car for my 4 hour trip to Syracuse tomarrow night.

When will I get my car back...I have no idea!

That sucks! Well the whole story I mean. And let me guess, they don't give you a loaner because of your age? I remember I took my dad's Bimmer for service one day when I was 18, and they wouldn't give me a loaner car. I think they wanted me to be minimum 21..

Not giving you a loaner sucks. When I had my top changed I brought it home and found it didn't quite close right. When I phoned back they offered me their valet service where they would come pick up my care wherever I was and drop off a BMW loaner. Now that's proper service.

Luckily after putting it up and down a few times it aligned properly and has been good ever since so I ended up not needing the valet service.

If it's because of your age (being too young) I guess there isn't much you can do about it is there?

You don't have to be a certain age to buy a Bimmer, so why would you have to be a certain age to take a loaner? That's BS!

You don't have to be a certain age to own a bimmer but it is safe to say you have to [generally] be [at least] a certain age to be trustworthy.

I don't see the connection......I had the same issue when I was 21. I purchased an extended warrantee from a dealer for my Audi which implicitly stated that I would get a loaner whenever it came in for warrantee work. Once the first warrantee incident came around, I fully expected to get a car to drive but they told me I had to be 25. I wasn't told this when I signed up.

I think there should be something in writing that tells people, well you can purchase the car from us but because you're not xx years old, you won't be able to have the same privledges that another person who spent the same money as you has.

I believe that is the case, insurance purposes.
Can't say for all the other states, but if I recall correctly, a dealer told me min age is 25.

Car rental agencies charge a premium for sub-25 y/o drivers. Its a statistical liability thing. Stop being such a baby. When you're 35 you'll think, "geeze, I really was a dumbass when I was 24," just how I, as a 26 y/o, think "geeze, I really was a dumbass as a 20 year old." I still am a dumbass and a risk, I just won't know it for 10 years.

Sorry to hear your demise gt.
You know how much trouble I had at service, sorta sucks that when you bring in your car for service they sorta have your car in their custody, and who knows what happens to it once its out of your possession.
In terms of the loaner, next time refuse to leave untill you get a loaner, as in life sometimes you shouldnt take "no" as an answer!
Next time as to speak with their superior, then if necessary their superior. They probably will just want to get rid of you after you put up a sink and give you the loaner.
Good luck, hopefully it will be back for the Cap Meet.

The limit should be 55 if single, 50 if married, and 70 if you live in Southern Ca.

You kids have it too easy! LOL

So quick update. I has been 7 days since my car was taken into the service department. I called up today and the top is still off of my car. They told me that they cannot figure out what is wrong with it. Did I seriously put my top down so many times that it has failed beyond repair?

Im worried that before I get it back into my car they l screw up the headliner and try to blame it on me. Thank God I took pictures of it. Im starting to think I should get them to order me a new top and replace it under warrenty if this keeps up. Hopefully that will be an option.

I didn't receive a loaner either when my windshield needed replacement and I was 26 at the time. Had to have friends drive me to the dealership and back (30 miles).

Not to mention that BMW Service was fucking awful and I had to go back an additional two times for a damn windshield replacement, but that's another story I guess. Hopefully you get the service you need. Good luck.

the local MINI dealer made sure that I had insurance before giving me a loaner. And nobody else can drive it except me. Apparently they had a cousin of a guy who got a MINI loaner and totalled the loaner.. insurance didn't cover it.. they lost a car.....

Good Luck, keep us vert owners posted.

When I first brought it in they said that it was a small easily replacable peice. That balloned into two more broken pieces the next day. It has slowly spiraled into what it is now. I couldnt even keep tabs on them because I was in Syracuse from Thursday-Sunday.

And I will keep you guys posted.
