Mequiars Ultimate Compound/polish/waxed 128i WOW!!

I am new here. I just bought a 128i and I love it! The car had some serious swirl issues and needed some work (sorry no before shots). So I went to town and bought the supplies Mequiars 2011 line up - Ultimate series. I also bought this bad boy - http://www.amazon.com/Tooluxe-TL-106...8770601&sr=8-1

Worth every penny! That buffer had mixed reviews but it is kick fucking ass!! Love it! Only 40 bux.. Buy it now!! It made the full job so much easier. I applied each product to the entire car with it!! Took 2.5 hours and the battery lasted the whole time!

Also, used Mequiars leather conditioner and Turtle wax ice on the interior!

Lastly, you will notice my HID upgrade in one shot.... (stay tuned for my factory headlight conversion (leds, hids, etc) 150 dollars!

Results were amazing!! See pictures below!

Car looks new and amazing!! Gotta love that monaco blue

Just a few other comments...

Used meguiars endurance tire shine (new for 2011) was not impressed - although it is suppose to out last any other product.. I will update you on that in a wk

For those wondering... I will make a new post in cosmetic mods about my factory headlight upgrades soon (waiting on a few parts)

Lastly, if your wondering about window tint. This is 20% in the back corners/window and 28% on the front sides. - was the best fit for what I was looking for

Nice work man. Car looks very nice. Did you use the pad that came with the polisher or a different one? I purchased some of the Megs Ultimate Compound yesterday and started working on my wife's AW 135i last night. I have a Porter Cable and was using the orange pads (light cutting). It seems to take quite a while to remove swirls and light scratches. It must be because the compound isn't too harsh, but will eventually get the job done. Have you used any other compounds to compare it to? I generally use Poorboys line of polishes, but ran out and didn't want to wait for the shipping before starting on the car.

The car looks great!

I agree, some specifics about your process and materials would be beneficial.

I used the pad that came with it for the compound and polish and a finishing pad for the wax... I would recommend something that is harsher or more "cut" power (maybe a medium or a bit more?)

As far as the hold up.. its been almost a month and the car still looks great. My one complaint is it seems that BMWs paint or just this color seems to swirl very easily.. It is a very sensitive paint, even using my CA duster to dust it some times adds swirls!?!

Anyone else notice this about BMWs?? I know that you would notice it more a dark color..

yes, the paint sucks as the clearcoat is way too soft.

That's my favorite color, love the nice clean look/color combo of your car inside and out.

What steps and products did you exactly use to wax your car?
I, myself, bought ultimate compound, tech wax, endurance tire, etc.

I'm planning on washing my car first with Meguair's deep crystal car wash, then use Meguiar's clay wax to clay wax my car, then use ultimate compound to remove swirls and finally wax my car with Meguiar's tech wax.. is this basically what you did?
Tell me/us more details, if you don't mind, I'm just learning how to wash cars and I don't know if my steps are correct haha
thanks!

I did the following:

Hand Wash
Clay
Ultimate Compound
Ultimate Polish
Ultimate Wax - (easiest waxy I have every used - to apply and remove)
**Three previous steps I used a buffer

Endurance Spray - Its not bad.. Its not that shiny, but it does hold a deep black look for a long period of time (month). I actually returned it and bought endurance gel, which seems to be more glossy and may last even longer.

Thanks for the info. The steps I did were:
Hand wash
clay
ultimate compound on most of car
poorboys SSR3 for the most stubborn scratches/swirls
ultimate compound follow up where poorboys SSR3 was used
poorboys white diamond glaze
NXT synthetic wax (first time using this, I like to try new things)

This process seemed to do very well on the Arctic White paint. I don't have any pics to post, but will get some tomorrow if it doesn't get dirty as my wife drives it to work.

Thanks bam9382 and moe79 for info.

I actually returned Ultimate Compound today because I looked at the video on Meguiar's website and they said it's very aggressive and should only be used on harsh swirls; otherwise "SwirlX" is the better choice for most usual swirls.

I'll probably do:
hand wash with Meguiar's Deep Crystal Car Wash
Clay wax with Meguiar's clay
then I'll do some touch up with Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0
and straight to NXT synthetic wax.

After watching the video on Meguiar's website, it sounded like Ultimate Compound and SwirlX were not necessary and Ultimate Polish was optional if you wanted maximum gloss

I didn't find the Megs ultimate compound to be all that agressive. It is nothing like the old polishing and rubbing compounds. It still took some time with the PC and orange pad to get swirls and smudges out of the paint. I definitely wouldn't be scared to use it.
