Seeeking opinions on specific color combos..
Hey guys I've tossed around the ideas...now I'm seeking advice on exterior and interior combos. I'm referring to ordering a E88 (convertible). If ordring one....how would you do yours up in Blue Water, LeMans Blue , Vermilion Red and Deep Sea Blue? Looking for insight on how others would build a new 1er
How would you build yours with these specific exterior colors?

Not a big fan of red, but with either of these exterior colors I would probably go with Oyster Boston leather and get the anthracite trim. That is the sexiest interior :0)

I love my AW over Coral, but if I ordered a new one I'd pick another combo. Probably Le Mans Blue or Vermillion over Savannah Beige. Either way, any of interior colors that use a contrasting color with black for the carpet and dashboard just look better overall. Terracotta is pretty awesome as well paired with any of the blues. Take a look at the specific car color threads in the photos and videos forum. There are plenty of pictures of just about any combo there is.

AW+coral+the black vert top+ shadowline looks great IMO. Lots of contrast, and white is a great base color against the black top.

Lemans Blue(Or Deep Sea) with Oyster Interior and Anthracite Trim
Oyster gives you black interior bits that contract with it really well. If they had oyster when I got my car I would have gotten it. I got the closest thing with was savanna beige

We ordered our 128i Convertible in space gray with gray/black leather and the "moonlight black" (silvery threads) top. Everyone tells us it's beautiful. I concur.

I've always been a fan of black leather. The oyster and beige colors are nice, but it seems everyone now is putting those in their red and blue cars to the point where black is becoming almost unique. It's also classy, more practical (cleaning wise), and works really well with the shadowline trim.

Agreed 100%. Having had lighter leather interiors in the past, I welcomed the black with open arms...and it looks fantastic under Vermillion Red, if I do say so myself.

I came this close to getting Vermillion Red instead of AW and sometimes wish I did. There are sooo many white cars out here. I can imagine how good VR must look with black interior. That's about as classic as it gets. Reminds me of the old candy apple red with black interior that was the color combo of choice on sporty cars like the Vette years ago. I do really like my AW with black leather though. Maybe I'll pick up another 135i in Vermillion Red just so I can have both.

Unless the match is perfect (and even then cuz colrs fade) I avoid the red/red and white/white combos. Lighter interiors tend to look dingy in a well-maintained white car. Blacks tend to look washed out in a black car, and with reds and blues a hue difference can be a visual dealbreaker. I think contrast is important (light car/dark interior or vice versa) as is resale value if you decide to go for the superman look (blue car, red interior) but those are my preferences. Be interested to see what you end up with. I have Montego Blue with Savannah Beige, which I think is a bit light for the blue exterior. My favorite combination of all is the deep water blue with Terra Cotta interior. To me, warm, inviting, luxury with strong colors. Lemon (white) would look nice too, but too formal for me.

Of the exterior colors you mentioned, I would go with either Le Mans Blue or Deep Sea Blue and go with Oyster or Black interior leather. The faux two-tone look of the oyster and black trim is really sexy, but black interior looks a bit "sportier" IMO.
I don't care for Blue Water or Vermillion Red, but I think the latter would look good with the black interior if you go that route. I was very tempted to go with BSM on oyster for my '09 335i when I did a ED, but I read a lot of negativity about how difficult it is to keep clean, and stayed away. It's probably not that bad though. Lemon is also a great color, but doesn't look like it's available anymore. One of my favorite combos by BMW Individual is Estoril on Ecru. I always come back to my favorite combo if I have my druthers though - Black on Red. Definitely go for the M sport pack for the anthracite headliner no matter what though - that's key IMO.

My favorite color is Blue Water with Moonlight and Grey Boston with all grey 1-tone (door cards, armrest, carpet, etc). My 2011 128i is built this way. It's 100% Elegant but just not as appealing overall like a 135i. I want a 135i vert and they don't make Grey Boston full grey interior anymore (let alone Grey 2 tone anymore). So I'm left in a tough spot. My cars are both this combo: light blue, light grey. Looks great if you ask me!
I still want Blue Water the most...but can't seem to like black interior or any 2 tone interior because of lots of black is involved. For me Blue Water and Taupe looks sufficient (Only color that is offered as a 1-tone color). BUT I just can't seem to like the Taupe either... I do agree that Deep Sea Blue and Terracotta is awesome...I just don't see myself driving around in that color. Too Dark for me. Anyone have Blue Water/Taupe??

Originally was going to get Lemans Blue. What color interior do you have? I think Lemans looks good with Black interior. I'm not a fan of shadowline trim at all...but I guess you can't have it all (& a grey 1 tone interior).

I would go the a dealer and look at every car on their lot. I was set on either lemans blue with terracotta/savanna beige or vermillion red with savanna beige until I went and saw everything person. They probably wont have a lot of the color combos on 1ers, but you can look at other models to get an idea of what to expect. I walked away with carbon black and oyster, a complete 180 from my original preferences. I was really surprised to see how different everything looked in real life vs the computer screen.
EDIT: Nevermind, I see you have a '11 128i, so you've probably already done this in the past. |

My current car is an E92, but still a good example of Blue Water Metallic on Oyster/Black with Anthracite. It was worth the wait!
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=396781 I like the color combo so much that I would consider ordering it again when my lease is up (I'm planning to order a 2013 128i in a few months), but I'll probably do something different to mix things up. |

I got an E82 Deep Sea Blue Metallic with Gray Boston Leather and aluminum trim. It looks real sharp and the blue changes color throughout the day. It even looks like an exotic sexy-ass purple sometimes. It looks black at night and the way the flakes are shown make it unique.
Perfect color for me.
