I'm not entirely sure you'll be happy with the longevity of paint. I powdercoated the wheels on my last car and it didn't last well, I'd have to really 2nd guess painting.
Anyhow that wasn't your question, in answer to that I like the last option. The color matching the car actually works for me, it sounds monotone but I do like it. And the silver lip gives it a little something extra. |

If these are just winter wheels I probably would leave them stock. But that wasnt your question. The gunmetal or matt back look good and would not show brake dust and road grim like the OEM.

Plastidip? really? wouldnt that peel off/melt due to the heat generated by the brakes?
Im still reluctant to paint the wheels, mostly due to longevity of the paint over time.... given that winter is pretty rough here, and the road are always full of salt rock and all that other good stuff... i don't know if they will still look good by the end of winter... still debating... ill let you guys know what I decide in the end... |

Normally I don't like silver lips, but since you don't have the shadow line trim it works well. With that style wheel you definitely want to do gunmetal or be prepared to shoot yourself when you realize you have to clean them.

Personally I think they look best in silver.

If you are looking to simply protect the wheels for the winter, I'd certainly recommend the Plastidip. Applying a coat of wax to the wheels before you spray them makes getting the Plastidip off very easy when it's time. Also, when I was researching it, most people taped off their tires with very elaborate painters tape designs. Totally unnecessary. The overspray onto the tires peels off naturally in no time, don't make the process harder than it is. Light coats, about 4 or 5, 15 minutes in between coats and your golden. Enjoy
