ok so ive searched and searched and cant really find the perfect answer. i do appreciate all the info on here but i just cannot find the right answer.. I think because i have the 2012 i cant find the info. There is not alot of info on 2012s yet.

I have this rim. 18 inch. What is the max size i can put on the rear? i am going with Nitto INVOS. Stock its 245, but that seems like it doesnt fit good. im used to fat tires on the back for traction. Ive checked and i have plenty of room on the inside and the tire wont rub ne thing. btw car is a 2012 135i DCT

it depends on the tire. But be warned, if you go big in the back and leave the front youll destroy the handling of the car, youll be plowing everywhere.

But to answer youre question, most people run a 255/35 R18 in the back, but you can get away with a 265/35 R18

thanks broken. Ill go with 255s for just a bit more traction.... i am not putting aftermarket rims, so what size should i put up front without issues?

Bigger is possible some roll and coilovers. I have 245/35 18, and 265/35 18

Tommeh, you gotta post some pics of that setup. I'm getting ready to put some PSS's on my car and would love to go as big as possible. Any problems with the front bubbling out too much? Do they flex much in a turn?

Did you ever put the 18" 225s (front) and 255s(rear) on?

I'm looking at doing this setup but my main concern is, not to change any of the OEM. When I first got my 135 in 2009 i bought a 2nd set of wheels and tire for the winter 205s(front & rear). I hate run-flats and now that we have a kid I don't play as much so my plan is to run one set of tires all year round. Only one problem with this, I have to have all seasons or snow tires for the winters here by law. I'm hoping someone has installed this setup and can share the pros and cons with me.

I hope to do this without any mods to the car otherwise I will stick to the OEM recommended setup...

Meh, I'm not saying get those tires but I was showing how easy it was to find that. But look in this section tomorrow afternoon and you'll see my post with the 225/255 setup I am having installed. I bought Michelin Pilot Sport All Season Plus tires but I would recommend looking at Michelin, Continental, Bridgestone, BFGoodrich and Pirelli........

I'm running 225/265's (PSS) on stock 264 rims & stock suspension. Car is not lowered and fenders are not rolled either. Grips like a champ.

I don't track the car though, therefore, I can't be sure how/if this setup affects handling on turns.

If you're JUST looking to go straight (digs or 20-40 rolls) and you're ride is modded, this will keep you're cars ass from going all over the road.

Note: I'm almost fully modded with meth. I would say (to start), figure out what/how you're going to utilize the car. Are you tracking it (lots of turns)? Are you dragging it (straight lines)? What's your time table on mods?

As an example, in regards to tires, here is what helped me achieve close to perfect traction on WOT (Note, I only drag 20-40 rolls).

1) STOCK or JB4/MAP-1: Run-Flats or PSS's in stock configuration (215/245)
2) JB4/MAP-2: PSS 225/255 (also limit boost on first gear to 9-10psi)
3) JB4/MAP-3 (Meth): 225 or 235 in front, 265 rear (also limit boost on first gear to 9-10psi)

Hopes this helps. To all you out there, please let me know if any of those tire/mod configurations (for drag purposes), are off base. No matter what you do though, I always recommend ditching the run-craps!
