Late Delivery due to trim shortage

I was suppose to receive my car (ordered with beige interior and blurred walnut wood trim) this week but my dealer phoned me and told me that I can only expect the car the second week in August due to a world wide wood trim shortage. I phoned customer care service told me the exact same story. Can it be?

I seriously doubt there is any world-wide wood trim shortage.

But I never say never. Best thing would be to find out if others in your area are also having difficulty getting on-time delivery if a car with *burled* walnut trim.

I don't know. I went el cheapo and got the matt titanium...i thought there were more exicting features...like comfort access ;-) woohoo.

I would seriously throw some toys out of my cot....get to the truth. I think it's rediculous. Perhaps it's just an excuse and there is another delay, like the idiots forgot to place your order?

Well if my 323Ci that I traded in is anything to go by, it is "wood look" plastic.

Yes it is real wood, but may as well be plastic.
one very thin layer of wood laminated with many layers of thick, glossy, un natural looking plastic. I ordered it that way anyhow! (warmer looking then allum)

Yeah, I agree... I liked aluminum trim in the E46 a lot, but for some reason it just doesn't look right in the E90. Maybe it's because it goes straight across the dash on the E90, where as the E46 had some curves.

Yeah but doesnt look as good as the alluminium

I would rather have that than "warmer looking" cheap looking plastic wood.

But its personal preference......if we were all the same the shops would be empty!!

my dealer told me the same thing about wood shortage for june production. He suggested I change to july production. However I must give him credit he suggested i change to titanium and order the walnut as accessory and they would fit it. The wood trim arrives this week and the car should be done this month. It is strange that they have the wood trim available as an after market accessory but not in the factory.

Please don't let this be true! My 330i has an expected delivery time frame of mid to late July and I selected the burled walnut trim.

It's true!!!
My dealer called today to say my car will be delayed, but they don't know by how long.
Any new orders for wood trim (both Poplar and Walnut) will be delayed, and production will only get back to normal around October!
By the way, my car was expected to be ready for delivery in 2 weeks.

I wonder if this means that our cars with titanium or alum will come out faster because the burled walnut cars aren't being built? That could be exicting...
